Let's Bring Digital Liberties into the Big Conversation / Boing Boing
http://boingboing.net/2013/04/22/lets-bring-digital-liberties.html
Apr 22, 2013. Let's Bring Digital Liberties into the Big Conversation. From the Boing Boing Shop. We've been CISPA'd again. We cannot entirely vilify the House, either. If there's one thing our representatives actually represent about us, it is our ignorance of technology. Since you are reading Boing Boing, it is very likely that you live in the midst of the digital liberties conversation. You probably know why CISPA is a flawed bill. And that there are truly insane examples of cyber-law. I issue this ch...

Aengus Anderson: December 2013
http://aengusanderson.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html
A few months ago I made the questionable decision to buy a century-old house. A smarter man would have foreseen the implications of home-ownership, but I'm a naif. So instead of editing the next ten episodes of The Conversation I've been expressing my creativity with a sledgehammer and pickaxe. Couple this with full-time employment and I've had to table my independent projects for the moment. Posted by Aengus Anderson. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Audio, writing, photo: The Decisions Project.

Aengus Anderson: Half a year of The Conversation
http://aengusanderson.blogspot.com/2012/10/a-much-delayed-update.html
Half a year of The Conversation. I'm overdue to post something here, if only to point you towards The Conversation. Which is live and well. Given that you're on my personal site, I imagine you already know about The Conversation. And have tuned in at some point. If you haven't, check it out: a sprawling, multi-month, asynchronous conversation about the future and the fate of humanity might be for you. When I get things ironed out. I'll be back on this site when The Conversation. I am putting it on Cowbird.

Walking Through Physical and Digital Communities. While I have been pushing forward on The Decisions Project. Recently, I just took a little detour to produce a news piece about Laura Milkins. And the ridiculously epic trip she is about to undertake. On May 1st, Laura is going to leave Tucson and start walking to Grand Rapids, Michigan. It's 2,000 miles and her route is weirdly similar to the one I followed on the last stretch of Two Wheels to Nowhere. Download my interview with Laura here.

Aengus Anderson: A World Grown Too Small and Too Large
http://aengusanderson.blogspot.com/2013/04/a-world-grown-too-small-and-too-large.html
A World Grown Too Small and Too Large. Last night I stared at Twitter while chaos erupted in Boston for the second time this week. I am still trying to make sense of the events—not as a narrative, but as part of broader trends that underlie all of these insane rampages, from Loughner in Tucson to Lanza in Newtown. This is probably futile, but I want to explore an idea. Plastic surgery and sacred underwear. Depictions of violence in media? The alienation of cities? A real conversation would demand researc...

Two Tucsons: A Gentrification Story. I should have posted this back in January, but my Latino USA piece is online. It's the first time I have produced a story expressly for a network program and worked with their editors and engineers from the first draft. The experience demanded a different type of storytelling than I'm used to and I think Two Tucsons. At South by Southwest. Drop by and heckle us if you're going to be out there. Growing up north of Tucson, I never paid much attention to the Santa Cruz river—in fact, I didn't even know that it was a river. Like all of the other washes in Tucson, the Santa Cruz appeared to be little more than an ugly dirt strip channeled between two concrete banks. Where did it flow from? We laugh and judge them.
