Fiona's Knitting: Black Frost - and the best join in the round, ever.

http://fionawinning.blogspot.com/2009/12/black-frost-and-best-join-in-round-ever.html

Knitting, crochet, and observations on life in general. Monday, 7 December 2009. Black Frost - and the best join in the round, ever. I have finished Black Frost. This picture is not good, and I am blaming the light at this time of year. (Excuses, excuses.). The pattern here is First Frost. Verdict - very nice! I've also finished the first Oliver sock. You can see here i) the arch shaping, and ii) the contrast toe showing off the fact that I ran out of yarn. It is a design feature. This is not easy to spo...

Fiona's Knitting: Russian grafting - now with pictures

http://fionawinning.blogspot.com/2007/07/russian-grafting-now-with-pictures.html

Knitting, crochet, and observations on life in general. Saturday, 21 July 2007. Russian grafting - now with pictures. I’ve been hearing an increasing amount about this over the last couple of weeks, and decided that a little research would be in order, as it sounded interesting. If I’ve understood things correctly, this is how it works. Pictures soon. I wrote this out in the early hours of this morning - I couldn't sleep, and our net access is abysmal then. Pictures soon! As this comes together, you will...

Fiona's Knitting: Two things

http://fionawinning.blogspot.com/2013/06/two-things.html

Knitting, crochet, and observations on life in general. Wednesday, 5 June 2013. First, here is Fastnet. Slow steady progress, but I'm not in any hurry - and such a lovely fabric, quite gorgeously squishy. And yes, that is an artist's palette that you can see in the corner there - it's dry, please don't worry! And here is the second thing, which is something you don't see every day. Six newly hatched cygnets. We are wondering about the seventh egg, and whether there is a seventh cygnet still to come. ...

Fiona's Knitting: Picking up....

http://fionawinning.blogspot.com/2013/05/picking-up.html

Knitting, crochet, and observations on life in general. Thursday, 30 May 2013. I am knitting Fastnet at the moment - well, theoretically I am knitting Fastnet. The thing which I was knitting for Rowan is now safely back at Holmfirth, and there is always something of a hiatus after such a project comes to an end. Usually I pick up the current sock-in-progress for an evening or two, or even relax without any knitting at all. Yes, this does happen. Where was I - ah yes, Fastnet. I've got something other thi...

Fiona's Knitting: Wee Peggy

http://fionawinning.blogspot.com/2013/05/wee-peggy.html

Knitting, crochet, and observations on life in general. Wednesday, 8 May 2013. Here's my Wee Peggy wheel. I did mention a while ago that I was going to sell it, and that I would let you know - well, the time is now. So if you are at all interested, please get in touch, and I can tell you more. It is listed on eBay at the moment, with the auction due to finish on Sunday evening. This is a nice little wheel - it is one of the originals, made in 1984 by J Rappard in New Zealand. 9 May 2013 at 09:34. Theres ...

The Craftie Pixie: June 2011

http://thecraftiepixie.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html

Lucky me got to test Anni's Daisy Shawlette. And get to keep it too as she already had a sample, all I needed to do was check out pattern and make sure there was enough yarn. The yarn is Twinkletoes Sock yarn. Which is gorgeous to work with, soft and squishy with subtle sparkles. I started with 102grams and finished with 2 yrds left over. Pattern is now available to buy from the above link. its a very enjoyable knit :). Labels: Knitting for Anni. So here is the pulli all done. Labels: Knitting for Anni.

Knitted love | Woollydaze

Wool and what can be done with it. From sheep to needles →. 24 June, 2011. Hello, Woollydaze here… with Littlest Woolly, meaning this blog post is being written one handed…. All of this touting a baby around has meant I’ve been gathering compliments, but not all have been for my daughter. She has been wrapped in knitted love for many of her. I haven’t actually been keeping a tally, but my feeling is that the this blanket has had more compliments than the accompanying baby. Over that past few days, a coup...

Wool and what can be done with it. Monthly Archives: May 2011. The gentle art of letting go. 31 May, 2011. There has, this weekend, been some tinking in the Woollydaze Too household. No, not thinking, I mean wholesale unravelling to the point where ‘knitting’ is an overly complex description. Let me elaborate. I have/had a cardigan that I have/had been … Continue reading →. Knitting, crochet, and observations on life in general. Monday, 25 August 2014. Ten Months of Silence. Well, nearly ten months. Anyway, that was a long gap. Now - life in general, and knitting. The knitting has been going very well. I've recently completed a blanket knitted in squares and pieced together - seventeen different colours of Rowan's Pure Wool Worsted, and eight different patterns for the squares. It is single bed sized, and was great fun to knit. The pattern is free from the Rowan website.
