Mental strength defines how great of a firefighter you can be. This week was a blessing in more ways that one. Studied with some of the guys on Sunday night with a yummy BBQ. To travel a new path? | Nosleepmommy's Blog
https://nosleepmommy.wordpress.com/2011/02/04/to-travel-a-new-path
Thoughts from a sleep deprived mom. To travel a new path? Decisions, decisions, decisions. Our lives are full from sunup to sundown with hundreds of choices. Every action we choose to take by necessity precludes another action. I often find myself weary with choices, so that when a child asks me “what’s for dinner? 8221; my reply is “food.” For my mind balks at this junction to make another choice. The Road Not Taken. TWO roads diverged in a yellow wood,. And sorry I could not travel both. I took the one...

Birthday fun for Caedmon | Nosleepmommy's Blog
https://nosleepmommy.wordpress.com/2011/02/09/birthday-fun-for-caedmon
Thoughts from a sleep deprived mom. Birthday fun for Caedmon. Caedmon is growing up faster than I would like. He turned six this year. In my head (and heart) he is still that little squirmy bundle that we brought home one cold day in February. But in reality, he is a growing boy who loves Nascar, Duke basketball, Ultimate Fighting, and Starwars (not necessarily in that order). Caed feeling uncomfortable with all eyes on him to watch him blow out his candles. After everyone went home and we picked up the ...

Thoughts from a sleep deprived mom. My bologna has a first name…. Although I have not yet realized my life-long dream of riding around in an Oscar Mayer Wienermobile, I have come one step closer. Today we visited this work of art at our local Weis grocery store. The kids got stickers and Wieney whistles…classic. We have spotted this piece of Americana a couple of previous times, but we have never made the effort to get a close up view. I really don’t have an answer, but boy, isn’t it neat? People started...

Saving face versus saving grace | I'Ching, Therefore I am
https://ichingthereforeiam.wordpress.com/2012/04/06/saving-face-versus-saving-grace
I'Ching, Therefore I am. Musings and Snapshots (and yes, my name is really I'Ching). Saving face versus saving grace. As I consider B’s stance on truth-telling (or the lack of it), a few questions come to mind: 1) the importance of truth-telling as a follower of The Truth, and 2) the difference between cultural idolatry (judging what is true and right by our cultural norms rather than judging our cultural norms by what’s true and right) and cultural redemption. What do you think? Posted in Being human.

Calloused fingertips | Nosleepmommy's Blog

Thoughts from a sleep deprived mom. I have callouses on my fingertips on my left hand. They haven’t always been there. In fact, they’re relatively recent. When I look closely I can see actual ridges left behind by my unforgiving guitar strings. Private school, public school, home school, and one family’s journey to find the right path. Thoughts from a sleep deprived mom. The catepillars say it’s time for spring. This slideshow requires JavaScript. There are other signs of spring. The tulips and daffodils are peeking their heads out of their leaf-covered beds. Down by the mailbox, a clump of my grandmother’s iris is also beckoning to spring. And I saw green shoots in my daylilies. Hope is awakening. The end and a new beginning →. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Fill in your details below or click an icon to log in:.

A Perfect Birthday | Nosleepmommy's Blog
https://nosleepmommy.wordpress.com/2011/01/14/a-perfect-birthday
Thoughts from a sleep deprived mom. Today was Juliana’s tenth birthday. For some reason this birthday of hers makes me feel very old. Ten is on the cusp of so many things that I don’t want to deal with yet as a parent. But today, today was going to be a special day for my firstborn. Juliana's Birthday Cake. Her favorite book is The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, so I decided to make a map of their journey. One of the Felicities about to be wrapped. Opening up the Felicity. My bologna has a first name….
