An eco-friendly life story. Dec 24, 2012. Quality time for Christmas! I know it's a bit late for a Christmas article but I just wanted to tell you about the present for my 9 year old goddaughter. Same principles as last year. I sent my goddaughter a nice postcard, wrapped in gift paper. The card was saying: this year for Christmas, I take you to the movies! I saw her yesterday, she's really excited :)! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Tromsøs Framtiden i Våre Hender. Un Truc Par Jour.

The Green touch!: 9/1/12 - 10/1/12
http://thegreentouch.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html
An eco-friendly life story. Sep 16, 2012. Wash your new clothes before wearing them. Not that it makes them more environmental-friendly, not at all, but it's healthier. This is why you should always wash new clothes, especially children's, underwears and bed sheets. This is also the reason why second hand clothes are definitely safer and cleaner : because they have been washed so many times that chemicals are gone. Definitely a good option, at least for children. H&M sell organic-cotton underwear! When y...

http://thegreentouch.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html
An eco-friendly life story. Apr 22, 2013. Organic honey in Tromsø. As you may have noticed, I use honey in some of my cosmetics, for example the honey sugar scrub. I also use it more and more for hair mask (future article). Liquid honey is easier to work with and wheter it's to eat or to use on the skin, always prefer organic. Good news, they sell organic acacia honey at Coop Jekta (Tromso) and it's even cheaper than the non-organic honey (139 ver 144 kr per kilo)! Thought I would just share the info :).

The Green touch!: 1 - How: the saponification process
http://thegreentouch.blogspot.com/2012/05/1-how-saponification-process.html
An eco-friendly life story. May 16, 2012. 1 - How: the saponification process. 0 - Why and how to make your own soap? 1 - How: the saponification process. And more than that, with extra oil (non saponified - remaining oil), your soap will be even softer to the skin. This extra oil is called "superfat" ( read more on superfat oil. Another important thing you should know is that the amount of lye depends on the oil(s) you use. Two different oils won't require the same amount to be turned into soap. Saponif...

An eco-friendly life story. Oct 28, 2012. Newspaper in your wet shoes. We have had a lot of snow lately in Tromsø and since we are kind of in a twin season, that snow does not behave as it should: that is to say, not melt before a few months! After waiting (a lot - bus chaos! And walking (a lot too) in that 10 centimeter. Slightly solid water, my feet, socks, inside of shoes were really really wet. Put crumpled newspaper in the shoes; it definitely absorbs the water. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Initially...

The Green touch!: Stop using plastic bags!
http://thegreentouch.blogspot.com/2013/03/stop-using-plastic-bags.html
An eco-friendly life story. Mar 27, 2013. Stop using plastic bags! Just because I don't post anything doesn't mean I don't do environmental stuff. Most of the time I must say I'm just lazy: I have an article to write about homemade yogurt for example and I know this one will take time to write. So today I decided to write about small, easy, random (and short to write about) tricks I do all the time. Trick n°1: use reusable shopping bags. Marilyn Monroe T-shirt bag. This one is with a sewing machine.

The Green touch!: Peeling ingredients, all from the kitchen!
http://thegreentouch.blogspot.com/2013/05/peeling-ingredients-all-from-kitchen.html
An eco-friendly life story. May 5, 2013. Peeling ingredients, all from the kitchen! Here is the list of the different peeling ingredients I may or may not have mentioned on the blog. The great thing about it, you probably already have them in your kitchen. Thin salt in a little bit of oil (olive for example). That's what I use, once a week :). Wheat bran. You can mix it with yoghurt but I guess it's just as fine in olive oil. Coffee grounds. Slightly more abrasive than thin salt but still ok. I am from F...

The Green touch!: Homemade lip balm & massage bar
http://thegreentouch.blogspot.com/2012/03/homemade-lip-balm-massage-bar.html
An eco-friendly life story. Mar 30, 2012. Homemade lip balm and massage bar. A balm is basically made of (bee)wax and oils. Contrary to a cream, which is an emulsion, a balm is only composed of fat material and quite easy to make. It nourishes (and does not moisturize) the skin, and leave a fat protective film on the skin. A balm may serve as a support for active ingredients, like essential oil, for local application ( unguent. Ex: tiger balm). You can also make " massage bars. 1st recipe) and lip balm.
