Travels in the Sand. An excursion to amman. Venture, the Latest: Rocks. Bull;August 2, 2009 • Leave a Comment. After finally arriving (there was break we took on the way, when we only then fully realized how deep in the desert we were), we took the “Petra by Night” tour, which ended at the Khazneh (“treasury”) where we all had tea before returning up the path we came. We explored a couple of mountains on our own and reached high points among those. Bull;July 30, 2009 • 1 Comment. Could there be any more ...

Travels in the Sand. An excursion to amman. Airport briefing, and such. Ok, I don’t find it necessary to go into the details of my experience at the airport leaving Lebanon, nor would it be useful, but there are a few points which are illustrative of the environment there in general. In my opinion:. 8211; if there is a yellow line where customers are supposed to wait before approaching the workers, there should not be crowds of people swarming said workers. What’s left for me here? There’s a souq (...

Day 8: A Journalist’s Journey to Jordan | A'Broad in Amman

A'Broad in Amman. 8230;A Journalist's Journey to Jordan. Day 8: A Journalist’s Journey to Jordan. The last morning in Jordan was a hectic mess. I woke up to the sound of my alarm, skyped with my mom, and then ran out the door with my passport in hand and suitcases ready to go. The 12 and a half hour flight back to the United States was not fun, to say the least, but the good company of my trip-mates, a couple glasses of wine, and several slightly mindless movies made it all a little better. I was there f...

Day 7: Last Day in Jordan | A'Broad in Amman

A'Broad in Amman. 8230;A Journalist's Journey to Jordan. Day 7: Last Day in Jordan. Cracked soil near the Jordan River. The thin Jordan River. We then stopped by the Jordan River, which was quite the sad sight to see. After hearing, during our many briefings, about Jordan’s water problem, seeing the depleted river right at our feet with the cracked dry ground around it was a testament to everything we had heard. If that’s the case, however, I can say with certainty that I have chosen the right career path.

Where are we? | Travels in the Sand
https://qasidanian.wordpress.com/2009/08/11/where-are-we
Travels in the Sand. An excursion to amman. Let the preface to the following Syrian chronicles be that, in any of the trips I take with others, there are always these two or three in particular who know a little about what they’re doing (having read the guide books on where to visit in these countries), and I (at least) tend to follow their lead. Was closed (very much contrary to what a janitor outside the walls the day before had told me), but, since it wasn’t Friday, the large souq in Damascus. Wasn...

War and Love | Travels in the Sand

Travels in the Sand. An excursion to amman. Those are the two main topics written about in Jahiliyyah poetry, which we began reading the past two or three days in class (“Jahiliyyah” is the term given for pre-Islamic Arabia, and means roughly “the Age of Ignorance”). We read excerpts from two works so far: one on Layla and Majnun. Which some claim Shakespeare got the idea for Romeo and Juliet from, and part of a piece by one of the most famous poets of the era.
