Dominican Oboist: November 2008
http://dominicanoboist.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html
Right back where I started . . . Played so much my face hurt. Back to life, back to reality. A Sort of Notebook. Int'l Double Reed Society. Sunday, November 16, 2008. Played so much my face hurt. Today I checked something off my musical bucket list. I played in a quintet! Notice I didn't refer to it as a woodwind. I had been contacted about the quintet many months ago, through someone from the ACMP. Maybe it was a muse? Things that were better than I expected: sound, intonation, endurance. Things that we...

Dominican Oboist: June 2008
http://dominicanoboist.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html
Right back where I started . . . Oh the irony of it (birth story). A Sort of Notebook. Int'l Double Reed Society. Monday, June 16, 2008. Now I can go on with the rest of my day . . . Maybe I'll play a little oboe for her :-). Ok I feel soooooooooooo much better now that I am nice and updated. I really do want to keep this up to date in terms of my big three (baby, music, school). It will be interesting to have this journey chronicled. Her limbs are a lot stronger now. She loves to move her kick her l...

Right back where I started . . . A Sort of Notebook. Int'l Double Reed Society. Thursday, June 11, 2009. The few other cities I've visited usually fall short in my eyes, but even the smallest of these have a fair amount of stuff for the kids to do. And since the things I am leaning towards now are family-oriented anyway, then perhaps I can be ok with the idea of moving. Why do I even want to move? So what does that all mean for me? Too soon to tell. We'll just have to wait and see.

Dominican Oboist: January 2008
http://dominicanoboist.blogspot.com/2008_01_01_archive.html
Right back where I started . . . Things Ive wanted to post about but have been too. A Sort of Notebook. Int'l Double Reed Society. Tuesday, January 22, 2008. Ok so this is the show I vow to never take my kid to:. Did they really not realize that the eyes are in an awkward position? Actually maybe that's part of the plan. I think that if I went to it I'd be laughing like a 12 year old boy the entire time. It just seems wrong on so many levels! Wednesday, January 16, 2008. 1) Working out to music. They are...

Right back where I started . . . Tomorrow is Wednesday . . . YAY. A Sort of Notebook. Int'l Double Reed Society. Wednesday, January 30, 2013. Here is my unedited story:. My earliest memory regarding Classical music was from when I was 4 years old. They had a TV ad for a set of cassettes called “120 Classical Masterpieces”. Every time the ad came on I remember screaming excitedly in my living room and dancing around to the music. They did get me the cassettes as a consolation prize. As much as I enjoyed l...

Right back where I started . . . Honey, Im hooooome! A Sort of Notebook. Int'l Double Reed Society. Saturday, December 29, 2012. Honey, I'm hooooome! Holy moly. Did three years really pass since my last update? I can't even believe it. As you can imagine, I've been busy. You know, with those new little people in the house? And the Fall was once again the busiest time of the year at work. Had a lot of projects and so far they've gone quite well. So where does that leave the music?

Dominican Oboist: March 2009
http://dominicanoboist.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html
Right back where I started . . . A Sort of Notebook. Int'l Double Reed Society. Saturday, March 07, 2009. Still on leave from everything . . . The clock is ticking in terms of my seat at school. At this point it seems unlikely that I will reclaim it. There are many others more worthy vying for it. I don't think this means I will never practice medicine, though it probably does mean that I will not practice it as an MD. I'm almost done grieving that. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Right back where I started . . . Kindermusik and Wind Ensemble. A Sort of Notebook. Int'l Double Reed Society. Wednesday, October 22, 2008. Kindermusik and Wind Ensemble. In addition, there is a decent rhythmic variety to the music too. One of the tracks is a polka, while another has a jazzy sway. The songs are fun to sing, though a bit high. Sunday, October 12, 2008. I'll skip my usual excuses and promises to update more frequently and go right into updates. So will I reclaim my spot come next summer?

Right back where I started . . . A Sort of Notebook. Int'l Double Reed Society. Sunday, December 14, 2008. How did this happen so quickly? December 9th was the 4th anniversary of my starting to play the oboe. *applause* Because I ended up taking about a 6 month hiatus after the baby, I technically haven't been playing for 4 years. But 12/9 is an important day for me regardless. It matters less exactly how long I've been playing for and more that I found that enraptured me. Work on sight reading! Hmm, ok ...

Right back where I started . . . Three times the fun. Dusting this baby off. A Sort of Notebook. Int'l Double Reed Society. Tuesday, January 27, 2015. Three times the fun. Here is the repertoire:. Dvorak - Violin Concerto. Sorry, stringsters, haven't ever heard this piece. Am hoping it's straightforward, but doubt it will be. Theme: Ok this is beautiful lush string music. I (CAE.): Woohoo, great oboe duet action. I need to find a way to play exactly like the first. *gulp*. VI (Ysobel): Cool viola moments...
