Flying for Dummies: May 2009
http://flyingfordummies.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html
Visit my new site here. Thursday, May 7, 2009. Epic Fail with the Jungle Jet at NZHN. Man this blog's a mess! Anyway, this should keep you going. Pacific Blue brought their Jungle Jet, aka Embraer 190 to Hamilton today, and I tagged along behind the invited guests and managed to get inside and even onto the flight deck. Then I got booted out when someone figured out I wasn't invited :). The epic fail in the blog title? And he had to disassemble the machine to extract two very sorry looking notes :).
Flying for Dummies: September 2009
http://flyingfordummies.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html
Visit my new site here. Tuesday, September 22, 2009. Both aircraft did some pretty hard core displays. Our Alphas did a 3 ship formation then one split off to do solo aeros, not sure if I got any photos of that, but it was the standard awesome Noel Kruse aerobatics display. Here's some photos of the show for you:. And after the display the aircraft were parked up at a nearby cafe:. A few people turned out. The view from above. Our mayor doing the talkytalk. Flying for Dummies: I'm back!
http://flyingfordummies.blogspot.com/2010/12/im-back.html
Visit my new site here. Sunday, December 12, 2010. I can't believe my last post here was February! That's really slack of me :-). Not much has happened for me in aviation over winter - I've not flown, not taken any photos, been too busy with other things. Now I've gone and gotten current again, and bought a DSLR for aviation stuff, well I'm back baby! I've got some pics here for you from the recent Warbirds Open Day at Ardmore. No pics of the Albatross? December 15, 2010 at 1:02 PM.
Flying for Dummies: March 2009
http://flyingfordummies.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html
Visit my new site here. Tuesday, March 31, 2009. Sunday, March 29, 2009. Sorry to take so long to report back folks, been a crazy week. I've just about processed all my photos, will post them as I get them through Photoshop. This is the quick version as I'm still short of time, sorry. The aircraft displays, both static and flying were mighty impressive! C-17 and F-18 kicked ass, the F-18 was so loud I think my eardrums gave up and went home :). Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Flying for Dummies: January 2009
http://flyingfordummies.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
Visit my new site here. Saturday, January 17, 2009. One success, one failure. First the success: It's BFR time again! While planning for my trip to the Masterton airshow I realised to my horror late last month my BFR was due on the 7th of this month. Gasp! Thankfully it was on an airfield! Now the fail. Epic fail more like :-). We have no taxiways here so those aircraft have to enter the runway halfway down and trundle about a kilometre, then turn around and takeoff. Damn! We climbed up to 6500 feet once...

My account of working towards my pilot's license and beyond. Tuesday, September 18, 2007. Next stop. Checkride! My checkride is scheduled for tomorrow! So then we got in the plane again, and I contacted ground so I could taxi to the runway. Ground: "Mmmrfff wbble - way 13 rmffbl echo echo bschmrg". Me: "Uh taxi to runway 13, roger". Seriously. why do they sound like the worst drive-through speaker from the 70s you've ever heard? Don't they ever listen to see if they're coming through ok? 40 hrs IFR time.

My account of working towards my pilot's license and beyond. Sunday, September 23, 2007. The checkride was scheduled for Wednesday, but I had to reschedule to Friday in order to get the maintenance logs for the airplane. So, on Friday, I got up early to fly to GLX, cram some more, and then meet the DE. Yes - that's about what it shows for the other altitudes." He smiled and said I got it right lol. So I passed the oral. Yes! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Pass 3rd class medical. At least 50 hrs XC.
Student Pilot Blog: Updates
http://exgravelcruncher.blogspot.com/2008/06/updates.html
My account of working towards my pilot's license and beyond. Wednesday, June 18, 2008. A funny thing happened on the way to Memphis. We met at the airport, and prepared for our flight. We wanted to be thorough in our planning since this was a new plane, and a long trip, so we had a bit of a late start. We planned a fuel stop which was halfway between Houston and Memphis in Monroe LA. They can go about 200 mph, have aerobatic capabilities, are still good on cross countries with ranges of around 900 miles,...

My account of working towards my pilot's license and beyond. Tuesday, November 20, 2007. I hope I will not have to find out. Well I decided to refuel at the halfway point. This would have been at Mobile Regional, but according to airnav their fuel prices are a whopping $5.24. I saw that KPQL nearby had fuel prices of "only" $4.88, but now they are also at $5.24. That's ridiculous! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Pass 3rd class medical. At least 50 hrs XC. 40 hrs IFR time. 15 hrs dual IFR. Oral and flight test.

My account of working towards my pilot's license and beyond. Thursday, September 27, 2007. Stepping it up a notch. Over the last few days I have been preparing for the Checkride part II. I've been going through the Practical Test Standards. To see exactly which maneuvers I need to know, and also going through my Flight Maneuvers book to see exactly, step by step, how to do them. And you know what? There is no 'Departure Stall' or 'Approach Stall' on the PTS! Then he wanted me to do the 'Approach Stall'&#...

My account of working towards my pilot's license and beyond. Thursday, October 4, 2007. So, again I had to use pilotage to find the airport. Turns out the ID for the is 54T, and the name is actually RWJ. What kind of name for an airport is that? I thought it was the ID. However you want to do it" she said. Sweet! I'm a frickin PILOT! My account of working towards my pilot's license and beyond. Friday, October 26, 2007. Fun with a Pilot's License. It was fun, and now I can fly all the planes in the club. I am looking forward to getting more experience with the PA-28 Cherokee. Now that I have my license I have to slow it down though. I need to replenish our savings account after all those lessons. But still I can't wait until I take a real trip. I am keeping my eye out for opportunities. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). At least 50 hrs XC.

My account of working towards my pilot's license and beyond. Tuesday, December 4, 2007. Around the Gulf and Back. Chapter 1 - The Take Off. As I had mentioned in the previous entry, I am going to Orlando for a business trip, and decided to fly the Cessna 172 there not only for the fun of it, but to rake up cross country hours for my instrument rating. And I could all so fiddle with leaning the engine, and backing off the throttle to ensure I would have enough fuel. That's all I need. X04 was a little tri...

Flying Forever
How's my Swedish after two months?
