Food from the Forest

Food from the Forest. Tuesday, January 15, 2013. Well it's almost been an entire year since my last post and I have absolutely no reason for it! Here in the Carolinas we have just had a very mild weather weekend and now we are beginning to cool down. It is rainy and cool which is the perfect time for chili. This is the recipe my mom gave me years ago. I think the tomato soup is the secret ingredient! 2 pounds ground beef. 2 cans tomato soup. 2 cans zesty style diced tomatoes. 2 cans mild bushs chili beans.

Food from the Forest: Honey Bear Chicken

http://foodfromtheforest.blogspot.com/2011/07/honey-bear-chicken.html

Food from the Forest. Thursday, July 7, 2011. This recipe was linked up to one of my favorite food blogs. I noticed it because I was on a hunt for another marinade for grilled chicken. We love the grilled chicken with mustard dill sauce we got from my friend debbie, but we wanted one that was a bbq flavor. This one is great. Try it for your next cookout. 1 cup tomato sauce. 1/4 cup cider vinegar. 2 tsp chili powder. Source: Our Treasured Home. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

A Darling Place: December 2014

http://adarlingplace.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html

Capturing the darling moments of our everyday lives. Thursday, December 11, 2014. Last Friday, we headed out to find our Christmas tree. There are so many traditions to teach to Gabe this holiday season! As with most things new, he has taken it all in stride and with much delight. We made it a night of decorating with pizza and cookies. I love our tree this year! Thankfully we got the tree up before sickness descended on our household. Ahhh…this the season! Capturing the darling moments of our everyday lives. Friday, February 27, 2015. Little man started swim lessons today! Tonight is the annual Daddy Daughter Dance. The theme this year is "Pajama Party," so the girls wore their pjs. Jacob wasn't keen on wearing his flannel pants to school so he opted for more neutral wear. I can't believe this is Cate's last year. Wasn't she just this little? Tuesday, February 24, 2015. That means she will go to Atlanta to swim as well! Watch out Olympics, here comes Cate!

Capturing the darling moments of our everyday lives. Tuesday, October 28, 2014. 8220;But if we WAIT expectantly for things we have never seen, then we HOPE with true perseverance and eager expectation.” Romans 8:25. Over 10 years ago, adoption was planted as a seed in the hearts of both Jacob and I. Newly married and not knowing the plans God had for us in regards to a family, we wondered if adoption would be woven into our family make up. We quickly became pregnant with Cate. Our family was complete.

A Darling Place: Atlanta and Sectionals

http://adarlingplace.blogspot.com/2015/03/atlanta-and-sectionals.html

Capturing the darling moments of our everyday lives. Tuesday, March 17, 2015. We went to Atlanta last weekend for the Eastern Sectional Age Group Championships at Georgia Tech. It was a fun weekend of swimming for Cate. She swam 4 events between Friday and Sunday and got best times in 3 of 4 events. It was the site of the 1996 Summer Olympic games so what an honor to swim there. It was a beautiful facility. Such a nice treat for us! Guess we know that to do for cheap entertainment now!

Capturing the darling moments of our everyday lives. Monday, June 30, 2014. Cate and a BIG thank you. I feel like I have failed to mention what an amazing travel companion Cate was during our time in China. She was adventurous, a risk taker, a huge help and a great big sister. I also want to say thank you to all those who prayed for us while we were in China. We really felt supported and lifted up by those prayers. God is good and gracious! God sets the lonely in families" Psalm 68:6. Our time in China.

Food from the Field

Saturday, March 26, 2011. My husband, Dave, took this video of our old apricot tree on the first day of Spring. That was last Monday. The temperature was hovering around 80 degrees and we could hear the bees buzzing fifty feet before reaching the tree. Here is a recipe for Apricot Butter. It uses apricot jam but you could try it with other types like strawberry or raspberry. It is wonderful on home made bread, muffins, scones, and even pancakes. 1/2 cup (one stick) lightly salted butter, softened. A few ...

Food From The Finca. Wednesday, 4 March 2015. Really Easy Economic Cream of Mushroom Soup. Mushrooms have a very strong flavour so it is really easy to make a little go a long way. Here I am using whole mushrooms but did you know that you can make a bowl of soup from just the stalks? Yes that's right. just the stalks. If you are the kind of person who habitually chops off the stalk and chucks it away then you might consider trying this in the future. Put the lid back on and simmer it for about 20 minutes...
