A lifelong food lover takes on a vegetarian diet. Laquo; Garbanzo Salad. Red meat won’t kill you… but processed meat might. Posted May 19, 2010 by foodiegoesveg in Recipes. Last night’s dinner: marinated portobellos, on big crusty, buttered bulkie rolls, with fresh feta crumbles. Very good. The smell of rosemary and balsamic vinegar remind me of summer, and the only thing that could have made this better is if I’d had a grill to cook it on. Marinated portobello burger with feta. A lifelong food lover takes on a vegetarian diet. Laquo; More to come! Posted May 19, 2010 by foodiegoesveg in Recipes. Tagged: chick pea salad. I had a hankering for tuna salad, so I improvised and substituted garbanzo beans (aka chick peas or ceci beans) for the tuna. It was really satisfying, and I will certainly make it again! Amelia’s Chick Pea Salad:. Finely chop celery, carrot, and onion. Add salt, pepper, and any herbs you like (dill, thyme, basil, whatever floats your boat). Here are some photos:.

A lifelong food lover takes on a vegetarian diet. Laquo; Portabello Burgers. Red meat won’t kill you… but processed meat might. Posted May 19, 2010 by foodiegoesveg in Uncategorized. I’ve been thinking a lot about the demonization of various foods, and how we tend to jump on the “ is bad for you” bandwagon. Remember when eggs were bad for you? When the best diet was a “low fat” one, or one free of carbs? I’m not really sure what I’m trying to say– something about looking at the biases o...You are comment...

6 Alaskan Women. One quintessential Alaskan cookbook. Wednesday, November 23, 2011. It's tough to make lentils taste particularly appealing. The hard little seeds can be earthy and plain. But the Fiddlehead's done it. Seasoned with basil, oregano, garlic, Worcestershire, and dijon, and including baby-butt. Garbanzo) beans, this lentil dish is far from boring. And it's so healthy, too! 6 Alaskan Women. One quintessential Alaskan cookbook. Friday, October 5, 2012. I’ve cooked all the other recipes in the book. I made the list and checked it twice. Actually, I made an Excel spreadsheet. Yep. Of 152 recipes, only four remain: Prawns Oreganate, Poached Squid and Red Pepper Salad, Whole Poached Salmon, and Court Bouillon. Get ready for the Fiddlehead Finale! For my family and a handful of friends, I cooked a coursed meal entirely out of the Fiddlehead. Prawns Oreganate in the pan. I found s...

6 Alaskan Women. One quintessential Alaskan cookbook. Friday, December 30, 2011. Smoked Turkey Pasta Salad with (Highbush) Cranberry Apple Butter. What is it with this dish? It's really weird, but super delicious. Borderline addictive. Smoked turkey atop noodles over a bed of lettuce. It doesn't sound that good. But the strong flavors are refreshingly unique, and surprisingly cohesive. Start by soaking apples in water for an hour:. Mix in the cranberries and heat, then add spices:. Strain out seeds and s...

6 Alaskan Women. One quintessential Alaskan cookbook. Monday, August 29, 2011. It's time for stuffed pasta! These cheese and spinach pockets are so tasty. They're a little time consuming, mainly in the making of the crepes. Give yourself at least 2.5 hours of prep time before baking to get them together. Next, fry the crepes. The batter is thin, the consistency of heavy cream. The tricky part is disbursing the batter around the pan into a circle. Work quickly! Scoop 1/4 C of the filling onto each crepe.

Visiting cafes and writing our honest opinions are what we do. There's a hidden gem in Liverpool that you must visit. It's easy to spot this cafe, just look for the "AU" neon light signage. It might not be the most lavish cafe but the quality of coffee beans will create a little surprise and it brightens up your day. I had the poppy seed bagel to go with my coffee. It's well-toasted, reasonably moist. I wish I had a bigger stomach to have more! More Info: Golden Square Coffee. 1 regular size tomato.
