Cassia Bark: Pabda Shorshe to beat that homesick feeling!

http://foodiejoint.blogspot.com/2015/02/pabda-shorshe-to-beat-that-homesick.html

Tuesday, 24 February 2015. Pabda Shorshe to beat that homesick feeling! Coming back to the UK, winters are torturous. They are slow, dark and ever so depressing. The only way we can drive away the winter blues is by recreating the Barir khabar (made at home, especially by Moms back home), seeing friends and just glancing at the calendar to count how many days are there until Spring arrives. Lucky for us, I think we are almost there! Shorshe Pabda (Pabo Catfish in a mustard-coconut gravy). Water - 1/2 cup.

Cassia Bark: Why is February so special!

http://foodiejoint.blogspot.com/2015/02/why-is-february-so-special.html

Friday, 20 February 2015. Why is February so special! He month of February is very special to me for two reasons, my dad’s birthday and the month when I met my Best Friend Forever. And of course there is Valentine’s Day, although, even being a hopeless romantic all my life, I’ve never felt compelled to celebrate this particular day! So this BFF happens to be my husband who I met on the fateful day of the 19th of February, 12 years ago! And for the first love of my life, my Dad. Why is February so special!

Cassia Bark: New Kid in the Block - Jamaica Blue

http://foodiejoint.blogspot.com/2015/03/new-kid-in-block-jamaica-blue.html

Tuesday, 3 March 2015. New Kid in the Block - Jamaica Blue. K so finally got a breather after two really busy and long weeks and hence typing up a long intended post, my first review of an eatery. I had a lunch date with my friend last week, a very rare pleasure in my life, and of course it had to rain! The Tuna wrap was toasted too and was delicious. Packed with flavours, it was one of the best Tuna fillings I've ever had. Can't say the same about the salads. Want to try the chicken stuffed pancakes nex...

Cassia Bark: Golda Chingri Bhape or Steamed King Prawns in a mustard, poppy seed and coconut paste

http://foodiejoint.blogspot.com/2015/03/golda-chingri-bhape-or-steamed-king.html

Sunday, 29 March 2015. Golda Chingri Bhape or Steamed King Prawns in a mustard, poppy seed and coconut paste. So lots of grinding and getting-to-the-verge-of-neck-spasm later I achieved the most smooth creamy mustard, poppy seed paste that no grinder in the world could ever give me. This dish is the most orgasmic dish I've created so far and at the end the pain was all worth it. King Prawns - I used headless with shells on about 10. Salt - 1/2 tsp. Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp. Mustard Seeds - 3 tbsp. Take ...

Burntout Memories: August 2013

The Unwarranted Dreams of. While flipping through various sites about Kolkata and her charm, I came across this fantastic quote from Chidananda Dasgupta – the soaring film maker and critic, “What can one say about a city that discusses Spinoza and Bertrand Russell during a power cut? A quick smile played across my face and thought, “Well, what you can say about the city which talks with pride about Tagore, Satyajit Ray, Mother Teresa and Amartya Sen? Kolkata has always been an abode of beautiful contrast...

The Unwarranted Dreams of. Life of a Hipster. You have excessive facial hair, a scruffy unshaven look, enough to make any Bangali mother cringe in disgust. You believe it makes you look more serious. The Unwarranted Dreams of. Homesick, Maa Aschen etc. The azure sky of the slow evening of the ‘ Gujjuland. To my ears and dawns a sudden realization in me, Durga Puja is right in the corner. The changing colour of the autumn sun in the far away skyline subtly touched my chord of nostalgia, taking me back to my ancestral home in South Kolkata, the smell of Sheuli. At the back of our Uthon. The taste of luchi, alur dum, khichuri bhog. Taking a leaf out of our Indian Government’s Ostrichian principle ...

The Unwarranted Dreams of. The funny bone of Indian Politics. For a country where everyone takes politics very seriously and in the rural areas where many aspire to be a politician, it is surprising to find Indians laughing their way to the elections. Thanks to the new age satirists, a generous dose of political humour doing rounds in every nook and corner of the tech world using rhetorical campaigns. Gone are the days when Jawaharlal Nehru who had a great sense of humour, once told cartoonist Shankar, "...

The Unwarranted Dreams of. We connect specific people to special images in our mind frames. The very thought of a particular person is related to his image in our intellect. The face, the smell, the sensation of that particular touch, the voice of that someone remains etched in our minds. a foodie's journey to a fit life | Just another WordPress.com site

A foodie's journey to a fit life. Just another WordPress.com site. July 21, 2013. Lentils are one of my favorite things to make. Not only are they packed with fiber and protein, they’re also low calorie and so versatile. I cook off a whole one pound bag and then keep them in the fridge and use them all week long. They’re perfect in soup, tossed in a salad, or eaten just on their own. Lentils are simple enough to prepare, all you need is…. 16 oz of lentils. 6-8 cups of water. 2 chicken bouillon cubes.
