Foragefor... news

Friday, 17 July 2015. So to celebrate the beautiful apricot foxglove, here are a few photos of this year's harvest to share. The flower heads just starting to surge skyward during the first week of May this year. Moving in closer to those beautiful bell shaped flowers. Definitely worthy of the display cabinet. And for filling a wooden crate. And for large gatherings preparing for a wedding. Choosing ribbon for a 'foxglove bride'. In certain lights you can see right through the foxglove like an xray.

Foragefor... news: February 2014

http://www.foragefor.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html

Thursday, 27 February 2014. Cambridge and Crocuses or is that Crocusi! I spent my day off yesterday in and around Cambridge and the light was exquisite, perfect for peak crocus viewing along the backs of Trinity College, always a privilege to see at this time of year. The pure white ones stole my heart this year. Then off to Granchester Meadows. I wish I'd brought my canoe! I have a slight mole obsession at the moment I see them everywhere! Foragefor... news: July 2013

http://www.foragefor.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html

Saturday, 13 July 2013. I have just returned from a fantastic break away. I don’t normally have a holiday at this time of year as the flower season is so full on, but after three years running the business and a gap between lovely events and weddings this month, I was determine to go away for at least a few days this summer! Where did I go? To one of my favourite destinations. I have travelled abroad a lot over the years but I have never found anywhere as beautiful as The Lakes! Hiding in the grass bank.

Foragefor... news: March 2014

http://www.foragefor.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html

Friday, 14 March 2014. Sweet violets are so many people's favourites (including one of mine) so when they are in season I try and get the most out of them. Violet syrup is such a beautiful and easy way to bring out the best in these tiny blooms. 1 jar of violets. 1 jar of boiling water. 2 jars of caster sugar. Pick and wash a quantity of sweet violets ensuring they are pesticide free. I love the comparison between the 'before and after' flowers. The colour you get after infusion is very dependent on the ...

Forager's Harvest

Wednesday, January 31, 2018. How to Make an Herbal Tincture. Herbalists generally believe that tinctures made of alcohol are more effective in releasing all the medicinal components from the plant than other methods. Seal the mason jar with a sterilized lid and place it in a cool dark place. Label the jar with the date of preparation and the herbal contents. Shake the herbal tincture each day for two weeks. An herbal tincture can be used to preserve herbs for medicinal use. Herbal tinctures are gener...
