When we got home, Jay and the girls made dinner. Let me rephrase that: Jay made dinner and the girls "helped." You get the idea. I told Lilly while we were on the trail that this was the best Mother's Day ever. She got a big grin on her face, and then a few minutes later, while she was snapping pictures of me and Jay, she said, "OK, you two, get a little like you're getting married. OK, now hug. OK, now kiss." Yup, she's mine. Completely mine. Best Mother's Day ever. Wouldn't trade a moment of it.

So today I'm kind of thinking maybe, just maybe, forbidding my daughters from having, looking at, contemplating looking at or definitely playing with Barbies may have backfired. Sigh. It seems I've made a miscalculation in parenting. Gasp. They're obsessed, obsessed, I tell you, with anything princess, anything even remotely Barbie-like. As they pictures illustrate, dress up is big at our house. Cinderelly is big at our house, as is the Little Mermaid, Belle, Sleeping Beauty, you name it. Later that even...

Wow, it's been a while. I'm not so committed to this whole blogging thing. I will try to get better. When they arrived home at 8 with Culver's lemon ice, they were most thrilled about their treat. I asked Lilly if she'd like to go to a dance again. She said no. I guess it's just too much work being a princess. Jay's making scrambled eggs right now. I must go assist. The natives are restless. Very restless. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Wow, its been a while. Im not so committed to. View my complete profile.

My babies are 5 and 3. Wow, how time flies. We had a spectacular birthday weekend. Some of the proof is in these pictures; some of the proof is in the fatigue we are all experiencing. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). We spent the afternoon together biking the G. View my complete profile.

I felt like Maya definitely got left out of our posts the other night. It wasn't on purpose, but sometimes it just happens. We know she feels that way, too. I'm pretty sure it has something to do with being the middle child. And that's why we love her so much. And that's how it should be. Such is life, and we wouldn't change a minute of it. Well, OK, maybe sometimes we would. Five days later we were all home as a family for first time, all five of us. Wow, what a year. A little wedding magic.

O it snowed off and on most of the day. That was pretty exciting for the girls, who up until last week hadn't experienced any snow this season. We hung out at home and took it easy. Or at least tried to. Ruby is cutting teeth and incredibly miserable. Still, she keeps in good spirits most of the time. She's walking - sort of. She takes a few steps and then realizes what she's doing and resorts to crawling. Getting braver each day, though. It seems I've made a miscalculation in parenting. Gasp. And so far...

This is my column for this week. That’s not how last Thursday turned out. All the way to Darlington I waited. The phone did not ring. Finally, as I got the girls situated, the ring came. It was my sister. She figured I was waiting and wondering, but no, they still hadn’t heard from the doctor. I wasn’t the only one waiting; emotions were running really high at my parents’ house. It was prostate cancer. Now we knew. I’ve never been so jolted awake in my life. Up to that point I was going along, ...So last...
