Fostering in Michigan

My case by case adventures of fostering animals in need. Friday, March 28, 2014. This little guy's a Trooper. Newest little guy - Trooper! I pulled this guy last week for the rescue I volunteer with from the county animal control. He had been found as a stray with these terrible wounds, and I couldn't stand to see him euthanized after enduring all that, so I agreed to foster him. Aptly named, "Trooper" has been a champ through all of his vet appointments and procedures/meds and treatment. This little fel...

Fostering in Michigan: February 2013

http://www.fosteringmichigan.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html

My case by case adventures of fostering animals in need. Sunday, February 17, 2013. Appropriately named, this was our next foster this previous fall/winter. Loki, the 10 month old male Husky/Labrador mix. This dog was seriously full of himself! Loki came from a university student who just didn't have the time for him. He was a wild child, had never gotten any real training or exercise. He was a MAJOR humper, and was more mouthy that a German Shepherd puppy! In this picture, you can really see how much ha...

Fostering in Michigan: November 2011

http://www.fosteringmichigan.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html

My case by case adventures of fostering animals in need. Wednesday, November 2, 2011. No, he is not a grandpa and never will be. Just a nickname. ;). He's still here, unfortunately. He is not getting along with either of our dogs any more, after a bad attack on Bailey. We ordered him a custom Boston Terrier Jafco muzzle from Leerburg that should arrive this week and we'll start introducing him to the dogs again. He's starting having more accidents in his crate, and he's lost a lot of weight.

Fostering in Michigan: October 2010

http://www.fosteringmichigan.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html

My case by case adventures of fostering animals in need. Monday, October 11, 2010. He actually got adopt a little over a week ago, but I haven't had time to post about it! He was only with me for two weeks, but learned so much and grew so much! We had a scare with another 'bout of ringworm, but it turned out to be a scratch. He did great with housetraining; only had two accidents while he was here! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). I'm a 21 year old working full time in the dog industry. I own a small busi...

Fostering in Michigan: Bogus Dogus

http://www.fosteringmichigan.blogspot.com/2013/04/bogus-dogus.html

My case by case adventures of fostering animals in need. Tuesday, April 16, 2013. Bogey was an awesome little pit mix who was with us for about 2 months and just got adopted a few weeks ago. At five months old he spent 30 days at animal control before I pulled him. He was mouthy, jumpy, humpy, and very in your face, but a nice routine and tolerant dogs settled him down right away with great training. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Book Club: Travels with Charley « Eat, Sleep & Be Doggy

http://eatsleepandbedoggy.com/2011/11/book-club-travels-with-charley

Friday, November 25th, 2011. Book Club: Travels with Charley. As someone with two degrees in English, I’ve read more than my share of the classics. John Steinbeck’s. Wasn’t one of them. I was excited to read it when I heard it would be the first book in Edie. 8216;s dog travel book club. I also appreciated all the little details about Charley. The way he says, “Ftt” when he needs to get out of the truck and take care of business. How generally even-tempered he is. I laughed out lo...Two parts stood out f...

Stuffing and Destuffing « Eat, Sleep & Be Doggy

http://eatsleepandbedoggy.com/2011/11/stuffing-and-destuffing

Wednesday, November 2nd, 2011. Do your dogs like soft toys? If so, this . . . Might look familiar. It’s the stuffing from one of the boys’ favorite toys: the bee. It’s been destuffed and it’s missing a wing, but I don’t have the heart to throw it out. Cupid loves playing fetch with it and will often go pick it up, bring it to me, and drop it in my lap. Or sometimes he’ll just sit with it like this (although another favorite, the duck, is shown in this photo). What soft toys do your dogs enjoy?

Dogs Make Me Sick « Eat, Sleep & Be Doggy

Monday, November 14th, 2011. Dogs Make Me Sick. There’s something I haven’t mentioned about being a dog owner. I called my sister Kimberly a day or two after bringing Cupid home. She later told me that the first thing she thought was, “What in the world has she done? 8221; The reason: I’m allergic to dogs. She figured it could only end in heartbreak. I have interacted with a few dogs since my early negative experiences with them. Bathe them once a month (or more). Getting “fluffy” dogs isn&#8...If you ar...

http://eatsleepandbedoggy.com/2011/12/happy-holidays

Monday, December 26th, 2011. It’s late on Christmas day, and it’s been a good one. Clayton got a mini flirt pole. And Cupid got another set of bees. They are both very happy boys. I am happy being at home and enjoying a quiet night with them. My boys have brought so much to my life. Hope you have a wonderful holiday and that the new year brings you everything you desire! Comments on this post. Happy Holidays to you too! Can’t wait to see more play in action! 27 December - 7:34 am. What a great photo!

Sunday, November 13th, 2011. I Got You, Babe. Today marks three years since I brought Cupid home from the humane society. I’ve already posted the story about how I got him. What I didn’t tell you was the week of panic I experienced about bringing him home. I was not prepared for a dog. I had none of the things dog owners need: collar, leash, food and water bowls (plus the food itself! First-time dog owner. It was still one of the scariest things I’ve ever done. Please share in the comments. When his tail...

Another Vet Visit « Eat, Sleep & Be Doggy

http://eatsleepandbedoggy.com/2012/01/another-vet-visit

Monday, January 16th, 2012. Clayton went to the vet last week after not eating for a couple of meals. He was fine Monday morning, but didn’t eat Monday night or Tuesday morning. Tuesday I took him in to see the vet. They checked him out, did X-rays, gave him an anti-nausea shot, and sent us home. My Clayton is back to himself, except the hair that had to be shaved so they could do the IV. Now he’s a poodle pirate. Comments on this post. 16 January - 5:34 pm. We are looking for sponsors! Wednesday, March 20th, 2013. The Year of the Vet. Dog ownership is not without its downside. It turns out that 2012 was the year of the vet for this first-time doggy household. The great raisin adventure. And Clayton’s tummy issue. Were merely signs of things to come. Further vet visits included:. Removing a foxtail from Cupid’s paw. Another stomach issue for poor Clayton (I think he had a total of three! We are looking for sponsors! Find out more here. Day in the Life of Nubs. The Poodle (and Dog) Blog.

Ring in the New Year « Eat, Sleep & Be Doggy

http://eatsleepandbedoggy.com/2012/01/ring-in-the-new-year

Friday, January 6th, 2012. Ring in the New Year. I kicked off the new year by taking the boys to the emergency vet. The reason: I found Cupid with an empty snack-sized box of raisins. Which are toxic to dogs. (You can find a more complete list of problem foods for dogs here. After consulting with my sister, I learned that the box had been dropped from her bag on her way out and was probably half empty. Faced with the possibility of kidney failure, I took the boys to the vet. If so, what happened?

This Beautiful Mess!!

I have had this dream since lunch.and I am not about to give up on it now! Michael Scott - Dunder Mifflin. Wednesday, September 7, 2011. Eva G is growing up. Look who is in Preschool now! Sometimes the hardest thing about being a momma is all of these milestones. Yes, they are important and exciting.but it is also a constant reminder that your little baby is growing up! And that I am not very excited about. I will admit, she had a great day. And I bawled like a little baby. Love you my sweet BIG girl!

Fostering Motherhood

Fritha's journey, my words. From Here to Fostering. Wednesday, 27 November 2013. The time has come. So that she will be all ready to welcome her foster children in the new year, Firtha has found herself a new flat. She needs to be all moved in and settled before she sits in front of 'The Panel' (whom we can only assume will include the prime minister and the chief of police in their number based on how strict the process has been so far), in March. Etc Fritha is not amused - "What about ME? To no one in ...

Fostering My Family | A quick glimpse in my life of fostering the growth of my family

A quick glimpse in my life of fostering the growth of my family. Foster Care & Adoption. Our Journey to Adopt. Yes, I’m attached. March 11, 2015. March 11, 2015. I could never do what you do; I would get too attached. This is what we hear. We hear it at the park, at school, and when we meet strangers on the street that eye us and ask about our diverse family. We even hear it from family, and dare I say, at church. Our response comes to a few simple points. 2) Stability through attachment is critical....
