French Exchange Trip to Bordeaux. Today our French correspondant students joined us for an outing to Rochefort and La Rochelle. ( Follow our route. We boarded a bus quite early, and first drove to the city of Rochefort. Here in 1666 Louis XIV constructed La Coderie Royale, what was once the longest building in Europe, designed for making ropes for French ships. A guide informed us about the building, and told us a lot about the rope-making industry. A lesson in history. Into the 'rope museum'.

French Exchange Trip to Bordeaux. The students began their day at College du Teich, taking part in a physical education class. The Norwegian exchange team was outplayed in handball, but made up for it in badminton. We then walked to the train station, for a quick ride to the town of Gujan Mestras, where we visited the oyster museum. Oysters have been an important part of the economy in the area of Bassin d'Arcachon, and it was interesting to learn a little bit about how they are cultivated.

French Exchange Trip to Bordeaux. The students spent Sunday with their host families. We did not hear anything from anyone, so we assume everyone is doing well! Tomorrow we will meet up as a group again when we go to the school for the morning, and the Bird Preserve in the afternoon. French Exchange Trip to Bordeaux. The week had come to an end. Saturday morning left a bit of time to spend with host families, and then packing for the trip home. The families waited with us at the airport, and waved us off at the security gates. We said "a bientôt," rather than "adieu", as it is only 8 months until the French correspondants visit our students in Stavanger. Here are a few more photos from our travels. The group assembled for the last time at the Bordeaux airport. See you in May!
