Large numbers of these butterflies were blown in from Europe in 2009. Here are the numbers of butterflies recorded over the last 8 years:. 2015 was an average year for numbers, no great migration in fluxes this year. Of note was the return of Marbled White - at least two were present for a number of weeks in the early summer. 2015 was not a good year for grizzled skipper only a couple recorded. The Brimstone butterfly lays its eggs on the purging buckthorn. There a couple of these trees on the park.

We have a new board at the entrance to the walk on Nottingham Road. We celebrated its arrival 4th November - here is a photo of the event. Work party clearing a fallen branch that was blocking the path through the Ash Grove. Photos from recent work parties: steps were damaged by horses and needed to be fixed.there is more to do. Clearing the steps of the fallen leaves - means that the steps are less slippery and safer to use.

Whitethroat sing at intervals down the length of the park - see photo of one on the power line. Ringers were further down the track in December 2014. Here are some pictures. Below is a report on the birds seen 2013/4 winter by Robert Craig (aged 15).
