We have been successful in securing funds to install many new features in the park; this includes. Seating around the Turkey Oak Tree. Adventure Zone for older children. Trim Trail for older children. Added three new pieces of play equipment to the toddler playground. And put events on too, we've been busy over the past eight years. Brief History of the Park. We have a garden club and meet weekly,. Optional, some members attend fortnightly or even once a month). We welcome new volunteers; you don't need green fingers, no heavy lifting or digging (unless you want to? Sweeping paths, weeding and tidying are just as valuable and a great help. Brief History of the Park. This is a post card from the 1950's or 1960's and it shows the 'Pickering Park Tennis Courts'. Unfortunately, these are no longer in operation, the pavilion has been demolished and the fence around the courts have also been removed as they had been damaged by vandals over a long period of time.
