https://frommyfingertips1.wordpress.com/2015/07/22/eid-ul-fitr-2015-a-day-to-celebrate
Eid-ul-Fitr 2015: A day to celebrate. July 22, 2015. A belated Eid Mubarak to my fellow Muslim readers. I hope your day was filled with quality family time and included lots of love and laughter. We’d just have a mezze plate or a fattoush salad. But when we host an iftar, we go all out. This was a snoek pie I made with leftover fried snoek. Eid prep began the afternoon before Eid. I baked fruit cake. My mom baked hertzoggies and date loaf. There is plenty of food going around at every house you visit and...

Ginger beer battered fish | From my fingertips
https://frommyfingertips1.wordpress.com/2014/10/30/ginger-beer-battered-fish
Ginger beer battered fish. October 30, 2014. My mother makes the best fish batter. It didn’t always include ginger beer (the added ginger beer in this recipe was Gordon Ramsay inspired). You could make this recipe without the ginger beer and just use water or carbonated water and it would still taste amazing. Most battered fish is deep fried but we shallow fry ours. You could deep fry it if you wanted but in the end it tastes the same. Here’s how it was made. 1 tsp baking powder. 1 egg, beaten. If you ha...
Hello from Doha | From my fingertips
https://frommyfingertips1.wordpress.com/2015/09/28/hello-from-doha
September 28, 2015. Just a quick update about what I’m up to. Yesterday my mom and I started our journey to Indonesia to attend my cousin’s wedding. What a journey it has been and (at the time of writing) we are only halfway there. We’re flying via Qatar airways since their raters were the best value for money but that of course came with a 10 hour layover. Hamad International Airport is not cheap and the long layovers might tempt you into buying all the cool things on offer. Share on Facebook (Opens in ...

August 13, 2015. August 13, 2015. I’ve always seen the big pretzels New Yorkers buy from a street vendor and they look so yummy. Crafty Things and Such Like Stuff. June 1, 2015. Step 1 : Turn paper plate over so that ‘grey’ side facing you. Draw a square in the centre of a paper plate. Extend the lines to the outer edge of the plate as shown in the picture. So basically make a big hash. Step 2 : Cut every other. Line from the outside to just the square. Don’t cut past the lines that make up the square. Step 3: Fold the plate in on all the lines. You have a cute little party box! These cute cupcakes went into the box. You can use t...

Where Has It All Gone. July 14, 2015. This post is actually inspired by what I had for supper last night ‘n blikkie vis! I saw that Pick n Pay had pilchards on special and decided to buy a tin. I haven’t had it in forever. I think its because it reminds me of a harder time in life. But also a simpler time. You could add potatoes and onions and make a ‘smoortjie’ with rice or even fishcakes with them for a meal or sandwiches. Where has our simpler times gone? You are giving others power to discuss and giv...

Why My Tired Is Always Tired. November 2, 2015. November 3, 2015. Today out of the blue I got a direct message (DM) on Twitter. This is where people can send personal messages. It was from someone I never expected to send one actually. And when I read her message, my throat started closing and I had to hold back tears. She had just received a diagnoses from her doctor and remembered something I had mentioned on twitter a week or two ago. And here I kept making fun of myself wondering why I’m not bald yet...

The Art of Vetkoek | veevee1978

The Art of Vetkoek. May 18, 2015. Winter is officially on its way and boy do I love the season! Warm fires, good wines, cuddles and of course yummy foods. My favourites are definitely curries. And what better with curries than vetkoek! Vetkoek can be described as a fried bread to non-South Africans. After my mom died, I carried on the tradition in the house. Kneading dough is one helluva workout! So lets get down to the nitty gritty! 7 Cups of all purpose Flour. 2 teaspoons of Salt. 2 tablespoons of Sugar.
Yummy Bread Rolls | veevee1978
https://veevee1978.wordpress.com/2015/05/26/yummy-bread-rolls
May 26, 2015. May 26, 2015. I’ve been looking around for a while for a quick bread roll recipe and I’m sure this is the quickest one to do everything by hand. Maybe one day when I’m big I will be able to afford a bread/dough fancy shmancy machine. These rolls are so amazingly tasty and softthey could give any shop a run for their money. And as you can do everything under an hour, they will be a hit if you need rolls to accompany supper or for the kiddies lunch boxes the next day! 2 packets of yeast.

From My Father To Me
Sunday, July 29, 2012. My goal is God Himself. This poem speaks for itself of where our heart and goal should be! 1 My goal is God Himself, not joy, nor peace,. Nor even blessing, but Himself, my God;. Tis His to lead me there—not mine, but His—. At any cost, dear Lord, by any road. 2 So faith bounds forward to its goal in God,. And love can trust her Lord to lead her there;. Upheld by Him, my soul is following hard. Till God hath full fulfilled my deepest prayer. 3 No matter if the way be sometimes dark,.

Benefits of Social Media Marketing. 65279; . Social m . Is not new anymore and it is and becoming more of a part of life for the masses; your customers, if you’re a business owner. We complain about the younger generation having their smart phones and tablets practically “glued” to their hands. However, more and more of the older generation is not much better! For the business owner it’s more of a “if you can’t beat them, join them” scenario. Yes, I said daily. That’s a given in my mind. So, when you...

Skip to primary content. Dishing up from the South of Africa. Bulgur and lentil salad. This salad is inspired by a Hellenic grain salad I saw on an episode of. I looked up a few recipes and found one by. Judge George Colambaris. It’s also the one that appealed to me the most. But I adapted it to make it more budget-friendly and according to what I had at hand. Overall this salad is packed with goodness and can serve as a meal on it’s own. It’s really filling so if you’re going to ha...Combine cooked lent...

Bombay Brasserie at the Taj Hotel: A fine-dining Indian experience. Ginger beer battered fish. October 27, 2015. Who doesn’t love fritters? They remind me of Ramadaan during my childhood when moms would send their kids around the neighbourhood before iftar with little plates to share the treats they’d made for that evening. Often these plates would contain a few greasy fritters (either pumpkin, banana or potato) sprinkled with cinnamon sugar. Look how light and fluffy it is on the inside. Sift the flours...
