From My Table…to Yours. Pan-Roasted Mussels in Miso Broth. June 9, 2010 at 3:13 pm. While you have to buy and cook your mussels the same day, you can make the base of your broth early, and your dinner party will come together in an astonishing 5 minutes — faster than it takes to toast your baguette! Also, this is a mussels prep that few people have tasted before: Bonus! A note on mussels: don’t freak out or anything, but it. Pan-Roasted Bouchot Mussels with Os. 1/3 cup denjang, or shiro (white) miso.

From My Table…to Yours. Archive for May, 2010. Back with a Vengeance: Momofuku-style. Hellloooooo, everyone. I can barely contain myself, I am so happy to be back. After a year of having my nose in a book, I can finally pull it out and put it to a better purpose: smelling the delicious aromas of caramelized meats, yeasty doughs, and rosy wines. For my comeback tour, I am resuming the cookbook challenge. And am starting with a fabulous one: The Momofuku Cookbook. Momofuku’s Famous Pork Buns. Stir together...

From My Table…to Yours. Archive for October, 2009. Old Bay Shrimp Pasta. I have a new book called The Flavor Bible. It is very cool — it is an index of ingredients, cross-referenced with complementary ingredients. For example, if you were to look up “Cabbage”, you will get a list like this:. Apples and apple cider. Bell peppers, red. Celery: leaves, salt, seeds. Cheese: cheddar, feta, goat, Parmesan, Swiss, Taleggio, Teleme. I decided to use the cooking method for my salt-and-pepper shrimp. 1 1/2 Tbs....

From My Table…to Yours. Here is a list of the cookbooks in my collection, in the approximate order they were obtained. I know it is quite the embarrassment of riches here, but my new resolution (a.k.a. Is to work my way through the collection by trying at least three recipes from each book. I feel that by doing so, I will justify this glut of gourmet literature somehow… Please join me in my delusion! The Complete Step-by-Step Cookbook. The Barefoot Contessa Cookbook. Moosewood Restaurant Book of Desserts.

From My Table…to Yours. Let Them See Cake. December 20, 2008 at 1:14 pm. Our first night in the city, we waited until midnight to eat dinner at Momofuku Ssam. And it was worth it. Every bite of pork belly in my steamed bun convinced me of that fact. A short walk down the hall is Momofuku Milk Bar, where I first encountered this counter:. Named the Banana Cake his 2nd best dish of 2008, and Serious Eat. Knows what he’s talking about. I just pretend to. Entry filed under: Dessert. Quite a Pair…. 8230;] Mor...

fledgling food: Jammin'
http://fledglingfood.blogspot.com/2008/09/jammin.html
Sunday, September 14, 2008. There is something about the sudden shift towards fall - the slight nip in the air, the rustle of drying leaves overhead, drained somewhat of their bright green color - that makes me feel a little frantic to preserve what's left of summer. Summer's bounty, that is. Blackberries and blue, which were for a moment so plentiful, are nowhere to be seen. One recipe that I am particularly keen to try is apple-celery-mountain honey, which sounds intriguingly alpine. This is a blog abo...

St Mark's Blended. Using what we already have. June 12, 2014. June 16, 2014. I’ve spent a lot of time over the past few days investigating the Modules function on Canvas and thinking about how we can use what we already have access to. 1 – Crocodoc is now AppBox and is nothing that we can’t accomplish Google/Drive. St Mark's Blended. Blended: a Lifestyle Change. August 7, 2014. The Sloan workshop I attended online this summer was less helpful than I had hoped (mostly because I was already very familiar with Backwards Design), but I definitely had a few key takeaways:. There are still 4 weeks left before classes start up again, but I already feel like my summer has been very rejuvenating and inspiring. I have been reminded to focus on learning outcomes (both content- and skill-based), and have been prompted to g...

St Mark's Blended. What is Blended Learning: The Hybrid Learning Consortium Summer Symposium 2014. June 15, 2014. I headed to the HLC Summer Symposium in Kansas City, Missouri with a general idea. However, throughout the two days I repeatedly found that my definition was not aligned with the definitions of others. In some cases, the definition of blended learning was larger than I had envisioned. For example, the Blended Teacher Network. Uses Horn and Staker (2013) definition of blended learning:. Wherea...

From My Stylus – Musings from a rural writer. June 28, 2016. I am beginning to wonder, as time passes and I keep aging, will I ever find me? When I was younger people told me how much I looked like my mother. I suppose that was flattering, but still…. Then, when I saw my image in a store window by chance, even I saw my mother. Really now…. But now when I look in the mirror more and more, I see my sister. And we never looked alike before. And what would that be? Where have all the small towns gone? The cr...
