Nettie's Notes: June 2015
http://nettiefrancis.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
Monday, June 8, 2015. My Kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Flickinger, was awesome! She played the piano, sang songs, did crafts, taught us to read and color, and loved us like a grandma. One thing I will never forget is her wonderful awards. Mrs. Flickinger gave awards for everything! This summer I wanted to re-create Mrs. Flickinger's awards for my own little school children. After all, jumping rope is almost a lost art! We anticipate lots of outdoor fun! Summer P.E. Page 1. Summer P.E. Pages 2-4. Nope I don&...

Nettie's Notes: January 2015
http://nettiefrancis.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Saturday, January 17, 2015. I have a lot of children. More than normal, to be exact. (I assume that makes me abnormal, but hopefully in a good way.) Despite my large posterity, I’ve recently had some new insights about the value of children. Ideas I likely should have understood earlier, but nonetheless, just occurred to me. Call me a slow learner…. I loved hearing the story as I made breakfast each day. The old English terms and phrases were delightful and filled with humor and meaning. In fact,...So wh...

Nettie's Notes: September 2016
http://nettiefrancis.blogspot.com/2016_09_01_archive.html
Wednesday, September 21, 2016. Note: I wrote this article in October 2011, shortly after our sweet Autumn Joy was born. Even though that memorable day was five years ago, I still reflect on the power and principles of the glorious Autumn harvest. Last month we celebrated Autumn with a joyful harvest. . Among other things we harvested our garden…a bit unexpectedly. . The overnight frost forced us to gather tomatoes, peppers, squash, melons, potatoes, and onions into our dining room. . I’m sending...

Nettie's Notes: SCHOOL DAYS - A Mother's Soliloquy
http://nettiefrancis.blogspot.com/2016/09/school-days-mothers-soliloquy.html
Wednesday, September 7, 2016. SCHOOL DAYS - A Mother's Soliloquy. I’m sending eight children to school this year – from high school senior on down through pre-kindergartener. Shouldn’t I be in the Guinness Book of World Records or something? After all, managing eight students is a feat worth recording. That is, if I survive. Let me replay how our school preparation has gone. 8220;Everyone wash out your lunchboxes,” I call during one of our final summer afternoons. The school clothes project takes all day.

Nettie's Notes: May 2016

Saturday, May 7, 2016. I DON'T Love Being a Mom. Nope I don’t necessarily love this crazy parenting lifestyle. Never mind that I did “like” the Facebook page titled “I Love Being a Mom.” But that was a hypocritical act. Sorry to burst the bubble of anyone who thought I was a sweet, diaper-changing, laundry-loving, meal-making, always-happy mama. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Follow me on Facebook. A little about me. Thursday, March 26, 2015. 160; My house is a science experiment. Actually, there’s no experiment. Our family life has already proved the theory of entropy. No more theory. It’s law. Nettie's Notes: February 2015
http://nettiefrancis.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Friday, February 20, 2015. Nobody comprehends what takes place in a mother’s day. But I’m here to tell you, it’s unbelievable — like magic. I remembered this fact after I survived yesterday — a day my husband was out of town. And resolving conflicts over which shirt was “cold-weather” appropriate.) By 6:55, I had sent my first batch of students out the door. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Follow me on Facebook. A little about me. From the Farm - My old blog. I DON'T Love Being a Mom. Nettie's Notes: A Purposeful Pilgrimage
http://nettiefrancis.blogspot.com/2016/09/a-purposeful-pilgrimage.html
Friday, September 16, 2016. I’ve heard of pilgrimages before: travel to an historic place to pay homage to one’s beginnings. There are pilgrimages to the Holy Land, pilgrimages to Mecca, pilgrimages to a cemetery to see the gravesite of a loved one. Anyone who believes deeply in something has an innate desire to visit his foundations—the place where his beliefs and character and very purpose for being were established. We stopped in Ohio to see the first Mormon temple. Kirtland. It was filled wit...Drivi...

Tuesday, January 10, 2017. Welcome to Homegrown Preschool! I am excited to offer preschool again this fall! After two successful years of teaching here in Kaysville, I look forward to another wonderful preschool group in 2017-18. My purpose in teaching preschool is to create a fun and personal learning opportunity for the students and to provide financial support for my missionary son(s). Basic preschool skills such as color recognition, counting, cutting, coloring, etc. are also emphasized. And other ch...
