From the Lone Oak. Poetry and musings with a Zen and Transplant perspective. Monday, March 31, 2014. Few are the lucky ones. From the start,. For the rest;. We must burn our hands. To learn the stove is hot,. We must wound with words. To realize the virtue of silence,. We must suffer our broken hearts. To know the true value of love. Lucky are the few. From the Lone Oak. Poetry and musings with a Zen and Transplant perspective. Wednesday, January 8, 2014. North American Ghost Flight. Above the dry sticks of a winter without rain. Speed great flocks of chattering crows. They head east into the fading mist at dusk,. As though searching for the ghosts. Of passenger pigeons,. Now lost in the mists of time. Comes close to it. The image is Vincent Van Gogh's last painting, called "Wheat Field with Crows". Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). I hav...

From the Lone Oak. Poetry and musings with a Zen and Transplant perspective. Monday, May 13, 2013. Make sense to you? Makes sense to me. How could I tell you. See that man banging his head. Against a wall so hard. That it makes him cry? If you were standing. I composed this poem while driving one afternoon and seeing a crazy-bad bit of driving by a complete stranger. Why the sudden stops, why the multiple lane changes? How about our own actions? Would any of our painful and. It's worth asking the question.

From the Lone Oak. Poetry and musings with a Zen and Transplant perspective. Saturday, September 29, 2012. Thinking to Take Tiger Mountain. Step by step I went when young,. Thinking to take Tiger Mountain. By strategy or storming Heaven. Trying hard to push the river,. I carried myself forward,. Quite lost through my own effort. Just seeing this and. Now I'm seated in my garden,. Listening to the small birds sing,. Quite content to watch all things. Come forth, and let the world. Dogen Zenji, Genjo-koan.

From the Lone Oak. Poetry and musings with a Zen and Transplant perspective. Thursday, August 1, 2013. What is the use of having an attitude,. Of honing an edge with pumped-up platitudes,. Or holding your ground with no room for latitude? No prizes are given out to those. Who die with the most opinions. You’ll be keeping them all to yourself. In that last silent solitude. From The Lobby

Saturday, March 23, 2013. Maybe just maybe it is time for me to post on my blog. DO YOU THINK? We have a new Playset in the back yard and I think it is going to be a hit! Grandpa Jim made all of the arrangements. I am so excited. The kids had a great time. When they saw it through the living room window they had their boots and coats back on in seconds and were out the back door. I have never seen them put coats and boots on that fast. From the Long house

From the Long house. Wednesday, January 14, 2015. Back in the saddle! I took a break from blogging over the Holidays. I got a batch of hats knitted up for gifts, but forgot to photograph them. Oh well. On to the new year. I made another 5 apples. As a gift for a friend! I have 11 in my bowl and may make one or two more. It has been fun to crochet again! I had enough leftover yarn from my batch of hats to make another hat, so I chose to do another Turn a square. Pattern. It is a fun knit! This is my KCCO.
