Sunday, September 21, 2008. Adam and I went to Boston to pick up the accordion that supposedly belonged to my father z"l one day (and maybe another relative before then). I couldn't believe how Adam just picked up that instrument and already knew how to play it! He's amazing. Sunday, October 26, 2008. Our sukkah began as 12 boards, each weighing 50 lbs, that Adam and I dragged from Boston. So here we are with our friend, David, with the boards lying around the picnic table Adam built, contemplating how to build this thing. Then we were joined by our friends: David, Ray and Craig, and Adam from across the street. The kids went to Tel Aviv to spend the weekend with Ducky and Papu in their "hol-tel" and we headed south to the Dead Sea. It was amazing! And I got to play with my new camera (some of these pictures are from that and some are from my phone- wonder if the quality is really that different) which was fun. Sunday, December 12, 2010. David wasn't feeling well so I took the kids to the people we were going to for lunch by myself and luckily everyone behaved decently and we managed to avoid the rain while we were walking. Someone else who was there was also a doctor and she agreed with Jeremy's diagnosis that it was probably broken but not a severe break. We went for ice cream on the way home to celebrate Simon's bravery. Today he went to school and came home with lots of signatures on his cast.

Less than 1.2% of the 3 billion bases of the human genome encodes genes that are translated into proteins. Yet, a much larger percentage encodes functional genetic elements. Many of these functional elements control how genes are regulated to produce specific patterns of expression in different tissues and cell types. Precisely how these elements work remains an open question in biology. Our lab strives to understand the non coding landscape of the genome.
