Garden Birds and other sightings...

Garden Birds and other sightings. Sunday, March 11, 2018. According to our neighbours it's been the hardest winter here in Scotland for sometime. 2010 was a toughie, but it snowed harder and longer in January and February than anyone can remember. That and the flu we both caught somewhat limited our getting out and about. We've managed a few bits here and there though including a walk along the shore on the North side of the Forth at Culross on a sunny day:. The weather soon caught up with me so i turned...

http://gardenbirder.blogspot.com/2015/08/arnside-and-silverdale.html

Garden Birds and other sightings. Wednesday, August 05, 2015. Helen had a business opportunity that required us to visit the North West. We ummed and ahhed and finally made a snap decision to make a long weekend of it. On a lovely summer's day with the sun coming out late morning we saw our first ever White Admiral butterfly:. As well as the more frequently seen Comma:. And a Small Skipper (told apart by the orange underside of the antenna):. As we continued walking the tidal siren sounded so we headed u...

Garden Birds and other sightings...: Wilson's Botanical Gardens

http://gardenbirder.blogspot.com/2015/04/wilsons-botanical-gardens.html

Garden Birds and other sightings. Tuesday, April 28, 2015. We drove from the Osa Peninsula right down to the Panamanian border and to Wilson's Botanical Gardens, another research station in Costa Rica. The accommodation is small but comfortable, the rooms much better appointed than at La Selva (see previous visit 2013) but it was also much quieter for birding, especially as arrived in the afternoon. The view from the walk we took was spectacular:. Were in the tree in the centre of the patio area:. Forest...

http://gardenbirder.blogspot.com/2015/04/back-at-hotel-bougainvillea.html

Garden Birds and other sightings. Tuesday, April 28, 2015. Back at the Hotel Bougainvillea. Given how we were feeling and not having a 4x4 severely curtailing our options (thanks again Dollar - never again! We decided to head back to Heredia a day early and to the Bougainvillea. The trip was long (six hours) but worth it. It's nice to be back in air conditioning with reliable internet, good food, etc. During our wanders we saw Rufous-naped Wren. A lovely Rufous-capped Warbler. A female Summer Tanager.

Garden Birds and other sightings...: February 2007

http://gardenbirder.blogspot.com/2007_02_01_archive.html

Garden Birds and other sightings. Sunday, February 18, 2007. Sat in the conservatory reading and listening to the birds singing - a pleasant Saturday morning. Suddenly it all went very quiet except for the occasional tweet from a Blue Tit. Then I noticed something unusual sat just above the peanut feeder and ran to grab my camera:. Was sat there, I guess hoping the smaller birds would forget she was there, waiting. Posted by Michael at 5:42 pm. Links to this post. Thursday, February 08, 2007. We have bee...
