You are always on my mind. Wednesday, January 16, 2013. Spring Fever.I've Got it Bad. January feels like the longest month of the year to me. And the weather outside is a chilly -2 degrees this morning. Miserable. Somehow I have to survive the winter and hopefully come March, things will start warming up a bit. Until then all I can do is dream about sunshine and Spring. 65279;. My plants survived the winter! My growing iris patch- to remind me of my mom. My absolute favorite garden treat-.
Gardening Every Minute: ASPARAGUS....An Investment of Time, But Well Worth It
http://gardeningeveryminute.blogspot.com/2012/03/today-has-been-perfect-spring-day-70.html
You are always on my mind. Friday, March 30, 2012. ASPARAGUS.An Investment of Time, But Well Worth It. Today has been the perfect Spring day- 70 degree weather, sunshine, and a slight cool breeze- so nice! A good friend of mine put a little bug in my ear and encouraged me to plant asparagus in my garden. So about a week ago I found some bare roots at WalMart, eight plants for around six dollars. And I have been waiting for a warm spring day to get out into the garden and plant asparagus. It is important ...
Gardening Every Minute: April 2011
http://gardeningeveryminute.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
You are always on my mind. Tuesday, April 19, 2011. Delicious, Sun-Warmed Strawberries. Parker's bowl of juicy strawberries. When we bought our house four years ago, one of the biggest attractions for me was the backyard, which included a gardening area, as well as an already growing strawberry patch, raspberry patch and grapes for juicing. There is a lot of care that goes into growing strawberries, especially in preparation in the Spring. Also, they need to be watered frequently, at least twice a week, ...
Gardening Every Minute: September 2011
http://gardeningeveryminute.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
You are always on my mind. Wednesday, September 28, 2011. Salsa and Sweeeeet Pickles! Tuesday morning, I texted my mom to see if she had any solutions to my lack of bottles. She said she was at Grandma's and that Gram was willing to give me some of hers. So I buckled Toddy in and we drove to Lehi to Grandma's house. Cute, Cute Grandma. So I gave her a hug and a kiss (even though she didn't have her dentures in) and we were on our way. Tuesday, September 20, 2011. Crowning jewel of our backyard. For examp...

Developing Self Reliance: Swarming Bees
http://developingselfreliance.blogspot.com/2012/04/swarming-bees.html
April 18, 2012. We have officially been backyard beekeepers for a year now. It has been quite interesting. Today was an especially interesting bee day! I heard loud buzzing and looked outside. There were bees flying around everywhere in our backyard! Swarming bees are extremely docile since they do not have young or a home to protect. Plus they gorge before leaving so they have enough to sustain. Themselves until they get established in a new location. As I get this ready to post, I realize this doesn't ...

Developing Self Reliance: Freezing your Harvest
http://developingselfreliance.blogspot.com/2011/09/freezing-your-harvest.html
September 23, 2011. There are many ways to preserve your harvest. Lately I've been using my freezer and dehydrator more and more. We now get enough produce that we definitely need more ways to preserve our produce than just canning. This post has a few tips for freezing, but I'll post on dehydrating soon- promise. When deciding how to preserve produce, consider the following:. What will my family eat? What is needed in my food storage? How much work and time is involved? Blenders, but wondered about the ...
