This is the diary of my Cobra build. and this is what I have now achieved. Classic Le Mans 2014. A photo of me and Ali taking Cobie round Le Mans circuit. Labels: Classic Le Mans. Classic Le Mans 2014. I had decided some weeks ago that I would like to 'dress' the car in period race decals for the trip to Classic Le Mans. I finally sorted out a design layout (getting hi-res images was challenging) and on Monday this week my local supplier, Signs Express, put all the transfers onto the car.

With the Cobra build complete, my build buddy Ali and I have been working a new project, albeit it on a very low key basis since February 2014 - this time for something entirely different. This is the diary of my Cobra build. and this is what I have now achieved. Castle Combe - Classic, Kit and Retro Action Day 2015. Saturday 20th June 2015. Yesterday I took my Cobra to Castle Combe as a guest of Gardner Douglas, for the Classic, Kit and Retro Action Day. This is basically a big car show with lots of track sessions available, including some weird and wonderful stuff from Vintage Double Deckers to Drifting Displays. A GD 427 - This is what I'm creating. Tuesday, 10 May 2011. Happy Days - The bodyshell is home! Picked up the bodyshell last Friday, and with some help, it's now safely in my garage. Love it, love it, love it! Love the colour, love the smell of GRP, love it! Will stroke it a couple of weeks and then make a start. Finished the garage also, and got the racking in, so now have space for the spare parts in there. Need to get support frame done now. Will post up photo's soon. 7 August 2012 at 16:00.

A GD 427 - This is what I'm creating. Friday, 1 April 2011. This is the stat of my blog. What’s it about I hear you ask? Well, I decided to build a car, an AC Cobra replica. Over the coming months and years (as I figure it will take me a few years to build), I plan on completing a Gardner Douglas Mark IV Euro chassis based AC Cobra replica, and I am most excited by this! Check in from time to time on my progress, challenges and no doubts moments of frustration. I have only 1 objective - to finish it!

Rob's Gardner Douglas Cobra. Welcome to the build of my Gardner Douglas 427. Hopefully the build will go better than my blog attempt, this will take some tweaking :). Monday, 9 December 2013. Lazy build day but what a buzz. That said and done, the magic moment arrived and with baited breath the Cobra was fired up, clutch in and select gear,. With a knot in the tummy the clutch was let out slowly and forward momentum was achieved, with each rotation the cheesy grin got bigger and bigger. My first Track Day.

Rob's Gardner Douglas Cobra. Welcome to the build of my Gardner Douglas 427. Hopefully the build will go better than my blog attempt, this will take some tweaking :). Thursday, 12 December 2013. The boot pistons which was ordered a few days ago arrived in prompt time and it was time to get stuck in and get them fitted. The first thing was to mark out and make brackets for the bottom of the pistons, these were a bit odd in shape but strong and didnt flex under pressure from the piston. My first Track Day.
