Martin Melchior's homepage: Use the TP-Link TL-WR703N to send Arduino sensor data

Thursday, 11 July 2013. Use the TP-Link TL-WR703N to send Arduino sensor data. Most solutions to send data through Wifi with your Arduino include an Ethernet shield. Another alternative I like a lot uses the PCB of a TP-Link router as a shield bridging Ethernet to Wifi. With OpenWRT installed on it), you have a serial port console logged in as root. All you have to do, is hook it up to your arduino's serial port. There are however a couple of things you need to be careful about. First things first, befor...

http://www.toolsdo.it/2013/11/chosing-good-screwdriver-review-of.html
When you have the right ones. Sunday, 17 November 2013. Chosing a good screwdriver - review of the Facom ProTwist (1000V insulated screwdrivers). My personal first choice:. Get a good quality screwdriver. A good screwdriver set is crucial. It is one of the most used tools, even for DIY enthusiasts. Here is a non-exhaustive list of bad experiences I got with cheap screwdrivers:. Avoid poor build quality. Bad grip on the handle - pain. Bad grip in the screw - damaged screw screwdriver. I've probably used h...

This post is the continuation of my two previous posts ( building the front face. And I will go through the preparation and wiring of all the electrical and audio equipment in this project. Note: there will be another post in the near future about finishing a couple of details (like painting the speakers in faux-rust). Bridging the burned trace. The Crunch amp...

http://www.martinmelchior.be/2015/02/bose-qc15-make-adaptator-from-damaged.html
Thursday, 19 February 2015. Bose QC15 make an adaptator from a damaged cable and use standard 3.5mm cables. The connector can be easily opened. By sliding a thin blade on the side. Once open, you can see a small PCB on which the switch and male connector is attached:. Slide the PCB out of the casing. Be careful not to lose the plastic cap on the switch ;-). Use a multimeter to figure which wire should be corrected to which pin of your 3.5mm socket. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The IMAX B6AC Clone ...

http://www.martinmelchior.be/2013/04/conversion-of-old-sigma-lens-to-work.html
Friday, 5 April 2013. Conversion of an old Sigma lens to work with newer Canon bodies. The aim of this how-to/tutorial is to enable anyone with basic soldering skills to adapt old Sigma lenses to work with new (digital) Canon bodies. Jiri Otisk has made a better version of this conversion chip and can be found here. I strongly recommend you use his version as it is much better designed and less buggy than the original one form the germand forum described in this article. A soldering iron (not too powerfu...

Saturday, 8 March 2014. Building a Wooden Ghettoblaster: the front face (part 1). I have some car audio equipment lying around and always wanted to build something retro (from my youth), beautiful, functional and fun. This is the first part of an ongoing project. I don't know where this boombox/ghettoblaster idea came from but I had some spare wood and time. Front onf the future wooden ghettoblaster. Double checked all dimensions with the car speakers to make sure it would all fit. Building a Wooden Ghet...

Martin Melchior's homepage: Make your Raspberry pi b more power efficient with a cheap dc step down
http://www.martinmelchior.be/2014/10/make-your-raspberry-pi-b-more-power.html
Wednesday, 22 October 2014. Make your Raspberry pi b more power efficient with a cheap dc step down. Modified RasPi B with a buck converter. The raspberry pi b (the original one, not the b ) uses a linear regulator to bring the 5V down to 3.3V. That's a lot of waste: 33% of the power consumed by the pi is dissipated as heat here! Instead of building a dc step down myself or buying one from a recognised electronics dealer, I chose to buy a cheap one from eBay. Input voltage: 4.75V-23V. I then decided not ...

http://www.martinmelchior.be/2015/03/building-bk-monolith-clone-500w-rms.html
Sunday, 22 March 2015. Building a BK Monolith clone, a 500w RMS subwoofer. Have a wonderful reputation:. BK is the OEM manufacturer for REL subwoofers. Attractively priced ; you are buying them directly from the OEM and they make virtually no marketing (except the word of mouth on the Internet). I love building wooden objects (such as my wooden ghettoblaster. And would never have had the chance (not to say budget) to build such a well engineered subwoofer if it wasn't for this project ;-). Before permane...
