Confessions of an Ageing Motorcyclist

Confessions of an Ageing Motorcyclist. Tuesday, 27 March 2018. A mix of people and technical skills make a good Observer. The further north you go, there seems to be a wider mix of bike types and certainly more with a sport-oriented bent. We drew no conclusions from this, principally because we northern types didn't want to be labelled a bunch of Rossi wannabes! A good mix of bike types on the course. Not an adventure bike in sight in this photo! The name chosen by our daughter! Taken by a mate who was f...

Confessions of an Ageing Motorcyclist: January 2013

http://geoffjames.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html

Confessions of an Ageing Motorcyclist. Friday, 18 January 2013. Sometimes, the tough days are the best! You may not believe it, but I've been crapping myself about today! Just before Christmas, I was due to sit my Institute of Advanced Motorcyclists Observer (Mentor/Instructor) test and managed to stuff up my back at home 2 days beforehand. Chief Examiner Philip rang up a few days ago to re-schedule and today was the day! Philip McDaid, Chief Examiner and a very relieved pupil! Less than 2 hours after ge...

Confessions of an Ageing Motorcyclist: June 2015

http://geoffjames.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html

Confessions of an Ageing Motorcyclist. Friday, 26 June 2015. Winter maintenance and other ramblings. Perhaps just a smidgeon of exaggeration! Setting off early, there was a decent frost on the ground as I headed south, then west. Several layers of Icebreaker merino under my Gore-Tex but the 2 hour trip and absence of a screen and heated grips on the Street Triple still made for chilly riding and a leaky nose (ewwww.). New front and rear sprockets and a Tsubaki Alpha X-ring chain. Nitron custom rear shock.

Confessions of an Ageing Motorcyclist: August 2013

http://geoffjames.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html

Confessions of an Ageing Motorcyclist. Thursday, 8 August 2013. Badass biking in the Cook Islands! Jennie and I haven't been to Rarotonga in the tropical Cook Island group for 6 years but it's a nice warm destination for a short break, the people are lovely and the food is great. Flying time from Auckland is under 4 hours. In fact, a great place to celebrate our 41st wedding anniversary and escape from reality! NASA SOFIA Airborne observatory (big door in front of the fin). Happy (very) hour cocktails.

Confessions of an Ageing Motorcyclist: October 2013

http://geoffjames.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html

Confessions of an Ageing Motorcyclist. Saturday, 12 October 2013. This blog won't be having any further updates - too many competing priorities! I'd intended to delete it without any fuss but a number of people have asked to leave it open for a while and no problems with that. It's been fun, especially contact with all the fabulous people out there, both in person and in the blog-o-sphere. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Confessions of an Ageing Motorcyclist: ScooterBob the petrolhead (episode 3)

http://geoffjames.blogspot.com/2015/04/scooterbob-petrolhead-episode-3.html

Confessions of an Ageing Motorcyclist. Thursday, 2 April 2015. ScooterBob the petrolhead (episode 3). Those who followed my previous exchanges with Bob Leong about my lack of fishing prowess compared with Jennie and his comments about my "lucky red fishing shorts", will not be surprised that SB insisted on coming along to see what went on for himself! ScooterBob observing the traditional husband and wife fishing battle. Not a breath of wind among the commercial mussel beds - sheer magic. Stop hiding SB, ...

Did He Ride Today?: April 2015

http://didheridetoday.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html

Did He Ride Today? The diary of a moto-commuter. Thursday, April 9, 2015. Didn't Miss the Rain. Yes, I rode to work today. I didn't miss the rain this morning, but I did miss the thunderstorms that rolled through shortly before I left. It was clear for the ride home. It was breezy, but not as windy as they had predicted. 67F/19C with a steady rain for the ride to work. 83F/28C and cloudy, but plenty of sunshine for the home ride. Keith - Circle Blue. Wednesday, April 8, 2015. Yes, I rode to work today.

Ouch! My piles!: March 2010

http://ouchmypiles.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html

Wednesday, 31 March 2010. Those of you who have been keeping tabs on this blog for a while, will no doubt have noticed the lack of involvement, or even mention, of one or two of our regular ride-out group. So here is an update. In no particular order. Mr Plough - Nobody has seen or heard from Mr. Plough and his trusty tractor for over a year now. So bugger knows where he is or what he is doing, although I have a theory or two. Thursday, 25 March 2010. What the bloody hell happened here then-. Mine and PP...

Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. Category Archives: Malmsbury Viaduct. July 3, 2015. I took a solo run today to scout out a ride that I’m leading in a couple of weeks time. The average temp for the day was around 5C, and was hovering around 3C for quite a while in the early am. All up it was around 415 kms, which was about 50 kms too much in those low temps! Just a few pic for now but some more words to follow. The Moto Bean cafe. Big barn doors for running cars into the building.

Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. Category Archives: Motorcycle touring. Long winter ride to Halls Gap, 19th June. June 26, 2016. It was a lovely day in Halls Gap and we all headed off to various eating spots, although the bakery proved to be the firm favourite so good were the pasties that some went back for seconds! We socialised a bit and then said our farewells to the Ballarat and Stawell folk and saddled up for the ride home. March 24, 2016. I was quite surprised at how much the Ro...

http://ouchmypiles.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html

Wednesday, 25 August 2010. Whitby and Yorkshire moors. What a fantastic day i have just had! I decided to follow the B1257 all the way down to Malton and then turn onto the A169 and go up to Pickering and over the Goathland Moor. What an incredible experience it was with the sun shining on the heather and a very enjoyable road. I hope to do this route again very soon. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Sunday, 31 October 2010. Just thought I'd share these with you, they kind of motivate me anyway! Friday, 29 October 2010. Last Ride Out Of 2010? Got out of bed Thursday morning and looked out the window. No rain, no wind and fairly clear skies. Time to get the bike out and have a good ride out! I wish all public conveniences were this nice. I also joined a website called http:/ www.bestbikingroads.com/index.php. Well, that may have been the last ride of this year. If it was then it was worthy, if not...

Ouch! My piles!: The Fateful Day

http://ouchmypiles.blogspot.com/2011/09/fateful-day.html

Wednesday, 7 September 2011. This Blog has been a long time in the writing. There are a few reasons for this as will probably become apparent! Wednesday 6th April and I'm feeling a bit out of sorts, have turned down four shifts of overtime and am generally pissed off with life. Go to the doctors and decide to try and stop smoking! The doctor prescribes Champix tablets for the Smoking and arranges for me to go for a bloodtest the next week. A lovely 1985 Honda VF1000FII Bol d'Or. I have since been out for...

Hope to get fit and get to meet up with you guys again. May be next year though. Nice to see new blood and cant wait to find out the reason for the monicker! 8 June 2011 at 17:37. Ouch! My piles!: April 2010

http://ouchmypiles.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html

Thursday, 29 April 2010. Fruit 'n' Barley bought me a gift last month, he bought me a Veho Muvi micro camcorder, it was unexpected but nonetheless very welcome. The camcorder is absolutely tiny, it's about the same size as your thumb, but the picture quality is a pleasant surprise despite it's miniscule dimensions. Whitby was to be our chosen destination for our 'road movie' debut. The run to Whitby is an 'ouch! If you have never been to Whitby by bike, then please give it a go, there are 3 or 4 routes i...
