Georgia's Wildlife Watch

Georgia Locock Blogging and writing is undoubtedly one of my favourite things to do, especially when it's about the natural world and most importantly inspiring new people to take action to protect it or go outside and enjoy it. Over recent decades we've seen species and natural places decline at a terrifying rate. Not just here…

Saturday morning peregrine watch. I’m feeling quite guilty at the moment seen as its been so long since I’ve posted anything here on my blog. Unfortunately I’ve been very busy with school work and have my first exam in exactly three weeks time so things aren’t going to be quietening down for quite some time. As everyone keeps drilling…. Double mustelids – Georgia Locock

September 24, 2016. After spending the last few years actively filming a badger sett which was quite a way from my local patch, earlier this year in July whilst exploring a woodland on my patch I was delighted to come across some strange mounds of earth and a selection of holes. Badgers! I was so thrilled to find a sett so close to my house, just a ten minute walk in fact! Once I’d collected my trail camera this continued as I sprinted home, impatient to see what I’d recorded overnight. E...Just my luck,...

Triple figures for magic pair. I thought it would only be right to do a follow up blog post after Saturdays peregrine watch at Lichfield Cathedral. For the best part of a year now I’ve thought about planning some sort of event celebrating these wonderful birds, my favourite bird, which are calling my local city centre their home. After a…. Herd bovine TB risk factor – badger persecution (data). Today I came across this data map and table which I found very interesting. They both show wildlife incidents involving badgers during 2013 that were reported, but in different formats. Just a couple of weeks back the cull in Gloucestershire and Somerset finished after…. Celebrating badgers for National Badger Week in Stafford. So its been a week since Brexit happened yet everyday it continues to send shock waves through the country. I never actually thought things like this happened, complete uproar! Nevertheless as I spoke about in my latest blog (about the results) it’s about battling on now and trying to create something positive. There are many…. My worry, my future, but not my choice. Tomorrow’s walk on my patch. Catch up: Springwatch, my patch and peregrines.

Focus on Wildlife: The Kingfishers at Warnham

http://focus-on-wildlife.blogspot.com/2015/08/the-kingfishers-at-warnham.html

Sunday, 16 August 2015. The Kingfishers at Warnham. Today at Warnham LNR*. I saw my favourite bird up close, the kingfisher. The Common kingfisher is currently on the amber list and is a protected species. There are 3,800 to 6,400 pairs in the UK, ( RSPB Information. 2014), and about 3 individuals at Warnham. My favourite bird up close, the kingfisher. I think it is a male, females have red colouring under the bill. LNR Stands for Local Nature Reserve. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). JRandSue: LAST FROM BULGARIA.

http://jrandsue.blogspot.com/2015/08/last-from-bulgaria.html

Saturday, 8 August 2015. This is the last of our pictures from Bulgaria. It is mostly insects which we hope we have identified correctly. The first picture is an Ant-lion, the first we have seen. They can grow very large and look like a Dragonfly when flying. The Mammoth Wasps are huge but apparently. Harmless, didn't put it to the test though. Little books for little ones about birds and creatures that are all around us. CLICK HERE TO VISIT THE BRITISH WILDLIFE TALES SHOP. Wednesday, 29 June 2016. Great weather for toads? The Year So Far at British Wildlife Tales. Well, what a mixed bag it has been so far this year. From long dry months to sopping wet ones, we've had it all in spades! What's in the Wood Pile? Some of you will recall that I had hoped to get my third title, What's in the Wood Pile? Out this year, and I thank you for your patience.

Focus on Wildlife: Siskin

http://focus-on-wildlife.blogspot.com/2015/08/siskin.html

Saturday, 1 August 2015. In the apple tree are six bird feeders. we get all sorts of birds on the feeders, blue tits, goldfinches and more. We also sometimes get oddities, coal tits, greater spotted woodpeckers, goldcrests and best of all, a siskin. Best of all, a siskin. Siskins normally visit our feeders in the winter time, this is why it was amazing to see one during the summer holidays. Thank you so much for your comment. I will try and reply soon. Thursday, 14 May 2015. CUCKOO AT BUTTERMILK HILL. There were 2 Cuckoos at Buttermilk Hill yesterday. In my haste to locate one after I heard it call, I nearly. Neck by stepping in a Rabbit hole and falling over. Today my knee looks like a cricket ball. Well worth it though as they seem to get fewer every year. Thursday, May 14, 2015. 14 May 2015 at 19:16.
