Becoming German: December 2010
http://germanyjames.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
The Exchange Year and Beyond. So I had my Birthday. On which I turned 17. It started out with my parents coming into my room at 06:00 with a cake, and singing Happy Brithday to me, and giving me some super awesome HSV tattoos! Then I got ready, after that we had breakfast 'together', and I opened up my presents. From Christoph, Johannes, and Markus I got a ticket to the Hurricane Festival. Me on My birthday with my cake and presents in the background. Random picture of Lennart, Markus, and me. So it's be...
Becoming German: November 2010

The Exchange Year and Beyond. What's worse than not getting mail? Knowing that people have sent you mail, but not having received it yet. Damn you, slow international shipping! After the concert Markus and I ran into a random gas station on the way back to the car, and I just about fell over when I saw that they had Mountain Dew Code Red! I bought a 4 pack, of course. So that was my Friday. Pretty great if I do not say so myself. That's all I've got at the moment. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
Becoming German: November 2013
http://germanyjames.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html
The Exchange Year and Beyond. Two Weeks from Twenty. At the request of my grandmother and great Aunt, I've decided to take some time out of my "busy" schedule and give everybody an update on what I've been up to in the last few weeks. Towards the end of October there wasn't much going on. I'd really settled in, met a bunch of cool people, and was finally in a normal routine, which was nice. But really, it seems. All in all it was a pretty interesting conversation. On November 9th I woke up at some ridicu...
Becoming German: Winter is Coming (?)
http://germanyjames.blogspot.com/2014/01/a-snowless-winter.html
The Exchange Year and Beyond. Winter is Coming (? For everybody who may have been wondering if I am still alive, the answer is yes, I am alive and well. And for anybody who enjoys the post, you can thank my grandma and the Z for reminding me to write it! After eating we spent some time in the kitchen, digesting and drinking some beer to help, before heading to a bar to bring an amazing evening to a perfect end. Sadly, he couldn't be saved. So I took his heart out. Before I was off with Johannes to a frie...

Monday, April 14, 2014. The title of this blog post, 'More Student Exchanges', might be a little confusing considering I'm on a year. Long student exchange. But let me explain. In the months leading up to my trip to France, I learned a tiny bit of French using the website duolingo. So that I would be able to recognize a few words and phrases while in France. View from Centre Pompidou. Double click the photos in. Order to enlarge them). Chilling along the Seine. The Swedish exchange students and some of.
Discovering Germany: August 2013
http://mirandagermany.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html
Thursday, August 29, 2013. Or as they would actually say here, Grüß Gott! My last week in Straßberg flew by. Table tennis practice, shopping and hanging out in Harzgerode, geocaching (geocatching! Spending time with my host family, potluck dinner/goodbye party, and as always, having fun at school was a great way to end my time in Straßberg. I miss Straßberg a whole bunch but I know I'm going to have a great year in Bayern. Among other things. Thats all I've got for now so till next time, Tschau! The buil...

Saturday, February 22, 2014. A note before reading; I know the pictures in this post are small, but if you click on them, then you can see all of them a bit larger). A few weeks ago I got to travel to Berlin for my week-long half year seminar for YFU. Although we didn't have time to see all that Berlin has to offer, I think it's a really cool city and I hope to be able to go back some day. But anyway, on to the stuff I. Basically the coolest thing ever! Which then inspired this movie. Last night I went t...

Monday, December 9, 2013. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Made a wreath, and spent a good part of yesterday baking Lebkuchen, which is sort of like gingerbread. I got to see the new 'Hunger Games' movie with some friends, and thought it was really good and just love watching films in general. That's all for now- tschüssi! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Discovering Germany: Back in the USA
http://mirandagermany.blogspot.com/2014/08/familienfoto-year-ago-today-i-wrote-my.html
Saturday, August 2, 2014. Back in the USA. Jacob, a fellow exchange student, and I at the airport. I miss Germany a lot but hang on by emailing with friends, listening to German internet radio, and reading a German children's book that I got as a graduation gift (and I'll hopefully be starting a German novel soon). I'll also be taking Introduction to German Literature 1 this coming year, which should be fun. I'm looking forward to having a German class again, especially after I've been to Germany. If my ...

Discovering Germany: Busy and exciting
http://mirandagermany.blogspot.com/2014/05/busy-and-exciting.html
Tuesday, May 6, 2014. The past few weeks have been busy and exciting- which, as an exchange student, is great! I had the week before and the week after Easter (the 2 weeks after my. Got our shoes polished, saw Marienplatz, the outside of the Bayerisches Nationalmuseum and the Alpen Museum, the Friedensengel and Prinzregentenstrasse, and ate a delicious lunch at a vegan restaurant. We found the cache! That probably would have been enough excitement for one vacation but we’re not even done! I finished off ...

http://mirandagermany.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
Sunday, March 9, 2014. Oh, hallo Alpen. The rest of the week was relaxing and just nice. I made significant progress on my novel that I'm reading (. By Lilli Thal if you're wondering), went jogging, and checked a bunch of things off of my To-do list, which is always a good feeling. Spring has also arrived here which means flip-flops, eating outside, and flower photos. Bis zum nächsten mal :). Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Other Great Exchange Trip Reads.
