Our day trip with friends from our community center included a stop at the mechanic shop, great lunch eating Guay Thiaw, desert at a Rotee "drive-in", at least four U-turns on the roads, shopping at a ceramic shop, sliding down The Slider, and shopping at the night Walking Street. What a fun day! Singin' with our friends in the village! Today I we...

Wednesday, July 01, 2009. The sand between my toes. What is the first thing you want to do when you learn how to walk? My 11 year-old friend, Nat, answered, "Go to the beach! Nat wants to know what it's like to run along the shore and feel the sand between his toes. Nat was born pre-mature with cerebral palsy. His family lives in a village about 50 kilometers south of Chiang Mai. I've known Nat for about 2 years and not a day passes by that he doesn't have a huge smile across his face. Friday, February 27, 2009. Conforming to the standard or the common type; usual; not abnormal; regular; natural. Would you believe that "normal" has twelve different meanings. at least on dictionary.com? Although they pretty much all say the same thing. Above is just number 1. FYI: Apparently there is a city named Normal in Illinois. What is "normal" anyway? No matter the present norm, the current standard, the common expectations. we all share the same deep needs and longings. May their eyes be opened.

Thai Adventures: May 2009
http://brookebrandon.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html
Thursday, May 14, 2009. This week I had one of my favorite moments in Thailand. I woke up yesterday morning thinking about my sweet little friends at the government orphanage down the road. I've seen these kids grow up over the past 3 years. They were in the baby class and now they're almost on their way to kindergarten! If you look in this precious girls' hand you'll see a sunflower seed. My job for about an hour was cracking open these seeds for four of the kids. It was loads of fun. Can you believe it?

Sunday, March 22, 2009. Strollin' on the Falls. Most waterfalls in Thailand are SUPER slippery and dangerous to play in. But, this one comes from a cold-water spring that consists of calcium. covering the rocks in a limestone shell. The limestone allows you to climb straight up the waterfall, even with the water rushing downstream. It was so fun to jump around in fresh, clean water. Here are the girls hiking down to the bottom of the falls so we can climb up in the water. I'm so ready to go again! This i...
