The first was April 4, the April Fools 5k in Bloomingdale. I finished in 34 minutes 11 seconds! Minorities, especially Asians, are really underrepresented in the donor pool, and a recipient has the best chance of a match with people of the same race / ethnicity. My crochet group is doing a sampler afghan of 7 inch squares to make a blanket to donate to Warm Up America. We're using up odds and ends and just making it as crazy as possible. My coworker sent me a coy message that she heard a rumor I crochet turtle shell covers (sweaters? I don't know what to call this). I said I hadn't done one, but that I could find a pattern and do one easily. I did find a pattern. And it was easy, but I had to make it a little bigger for this particular turtle, a 20-year-old red slider named Michelangelo!
