Camellia Rose: Little embroidered xmas tree - a tutorial
http://ghostmyst.blogspot.com/2008/12/little-embroidered-xmas-tree-tutorial.html
Tuesday, 16 December 2008. Little embroidered xmas tree - a tutorial. I made these little trees for the Kiwi Christmas Ornament Swap. They were such fun that I thought I'd share the process in a tutorial. Read on and soon you too will have a little embroidered forest. To get the full sized pattern). Fabric of your choice for back side (I used craft cotton and sealed the edges with a dab of glue to stop them fraying. You could use felt for this side as well, and even embroider it if you feel keen! Take yo...
Camellia Rose: How to make embroidered jam jar covers
http://ghostmyst.blogspot.com/2009/07/how-to-make-embroidered-jam-jar-covers.html
Friday, 10 July 2009. How to make embroidered jam jar covers. Cotton or linen fabric - plain, and patterned. Hoop, needle and scissors. Round things to trace around (like bottles and dinner plates). Trace around a small jar or bottle to make a circle on a piece of plain fabric. This is for the centre image, so you don't want it too big - mine were about 5 cm diameter. Either use a wash-away or fade-away marker, or use any marker and make sure you trim off the outline. Cut out the circle. Hello, I love th...
Camellia Rose: Styling the Seasons - July 2015
http://ghostmyst.blogspot.com/2015/07/styling-seasons-july-2015.html
Tuesday, 28 July 2015. Styling the Seasons - July 2015. Welcome to my Styling the Seasons post for July! I took these pictures a couple of weeks ago and when I went to edit them, I didn't like them at all. So I reshot last weekend from angles I was happier with, and came out with some useable pictures! Bonus: the first of the season's hellebores were in bloom so I was able to use them as well, to my delight. I love lacy patterns and I've used a lot of them here. The filigree patterns in the ceramic b...

Camellia Rose: Styling the Seasons - May 2015
http://ghostmyst.blogspot.com/2015/05/styling-seasons-may-2015.html
Friday, 22 May 2015. Styling the Seasons - May 2015. Welcome to my Styling the Seasons post for May. It's nearly winter and the fireplace is in use again, so this month I decided to style my mantel. I haven't really done much with it since summer (you can see it here. In an earlier post) and it was definitely time for a refresh! I love the pale aqua tea light holder/vase, and the way it echoes the filigree ceramic balls. Some little succulent cuttings are coming along inside the terrarium. It wouldn't be...

NZ FLUTTERBY: 15 Habits of Great Writers - day 2
http://nzflutterby.blogspot.com/2012/06/15-habits-of-great-writers-day-2.html
Occasional thoughts, art work, what I'm doing. Friday, 8 June 2012. 15 Habits of Great Writers - day 2. 2nd day is to believe. And here below is what Jeff said. How do we turn something like belief into action? We don’t. Not yet, anyway. Instead, we marinate. A wise man once said we are the sum of our conscious thoughts. In other words, we become what we fixate on". Until this happens, until you actually believe you are a writer, you’re only kidding yourself. And you’re not doing anybody ...15 Habits of ...
NZ FLUTTERBY: Fabric manipulation
http://nzflutterby.blogspot.com/2015/05/fabric-manipulation.html
Occasional thoughts, art work, what I'm doing. Friday, 8 May 2015. I have been doing a workshop with Alysn Midgelow-Marsden in fabric manipulation. We have worked with metal shims, natural materieals, paper and man-made materials such as organza which we have altered using heat guns and soldering irons, Bonding, layering, stitching, gilding, embellishing. Sometimes several of the above techniques have been used together. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Auckland, New Zealand. View my complete profile.
NZ FLUTTERBY: IFJM # 23
http://nzflutterby.blogspot.com/2011/04/ifjm-23.html
Occasional thoughts, art work, what I'm doing. Tuesday, 26 April 2011. The Director's dog - yes he has a real dog. Not a man I thought would have a toy poodle. Apparently she goes everywhere with him except the large animals' enclosures. I really like all these drawings. Several of our Strathmore workshop pariticipants are drawers. Just makes me realize I need to not leave that out when I get caught up in the journaling process. Im following here now and hope you will follow on mine too.
NZ FLUTTERBY: IFJM # 22
http://nzflutterby.blogspot.com/2011/04/ifjm-22.html
Occasional thoughts, art work, what I'm doing. Tuesday, 26 April 2011. Mondo was sick and unable to drive. When I queried why he was needed the said They Director had wanted to go out to the swamp area to look at the viability of a wild-fowl area. He is an animal person - not at all mechanical. I sort of volunteered. After a day's drive - the Director relaxing in the hut. I didn't realise we would be away overnight. I used some of Rondo's stuff that was in the 4WD. Occasional thoughts, art work, what I'm doing. Thursday, 29 September 2011. I have been doing more ATC's with a bit of writing rather than any journalling. Strathmore have recently announced 3 more journalling wroshops for 2012 and I have put my name down for all three. See their newsletter for details. Http:/ www.strathmoreartist.com/artist-newsletter.html. The first two are 'intuitive portraits' ATC size. Blue woods is in Water colour. Spring Meadow is acryllic. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Occasional thoughts, art work, what I'm doing. Sunday, 25 December 2011. Woter colours, Copic markers, ink, silver gel pen and coloured pencil. I loved the cool yellowgreen next to the sky blue and ultramarine. It is great playing this way with paint and shapes. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Auckland, New Zealand. I've always enjoyed drawing and making art but now I am exploring different mediums and styles. Also doing fabric manipulation. View my complete profile. FEEDJIT Live Traffic Map.
cabbage tree farm: December 2014
http://cabbagetreefarm.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Friday, December 26, 2014. Season's greetings to everyone, hope you had a lovely day. It's always a bit of a rush in the build up to Xmas day, especially here in NZ as it coincides with Summer and school holidays. We had a really nice day with family, the weather was warm and overcast and it was pleasant to sit outside on the deck without cooking in the hot sun! I will now share a photo of my first attempt at a gingerbread house from last year. You will see just how truely awful it was! At last we have o...
cabbage tree farm: March 2014
http://cabbagetreefarm.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
Friday, March 28, 2014. It's apple season here on CTF. I am steadily working my way through mountains of apples. OK 'mountains' might be a slight exaggeration, but there are certainly quite a few kilos! Here is a big box of delicious 'Reinette du Canada' apples - a French heirloom apple - that I picked yesterday. This variety is great for cooking, but it can also be eaten as a dessert apple. We usually cook it. Some of these apples get quite big. The biggest one I picked was 500g (18 oz)! Disappointingly...
cabbage tree farm: November 2014
http://cabbagetreefarm.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Friday, November 14, 2014. The flu, hail storms and bread! Yesterday we had hail storms, sudden freezing showers straight out of the Antartic. Here's a photo of me holding a load of hail which had just fallen:. And this is what they looked like up against the ranchslider:. And (less impressively) outside on the deck:. The shower was preceded by this spectacular double rainbow:. Monday, November 3, 2014. There were games and a lolly scramble outside on the sports field. Music and dancing. Ended wi...Fun T...

Monday, 9 January 2017. Snapshots - December 2016. Welcome to December in photos! It's the end of the year, the start of summer, and the middle of Christmas. I'd been working on this crochet tree skirt, and as soon as I finished it I put the tree up. I got a white tree this year and I'm so glad I did! Fortunately I was able to take just the top part of the tree and put it in the stand on top of the hall table. And there it has remained safe and unmolested by cats. The garden has been just gorgeous this m...
