Random musings from my travelling adventures. Laquo; The Philippines. November 6, 2011 by Gillian Klee. The restaurant overhangs the Peak and as such the window seats afford stunning views over Victoria Harbour, and we managed to wangle the corner table – two sides of which faced the big picture windows. I know I’m gushing, but it was amazing. There were a few days where it absolutely tipped it down, and so it was that we spent a rather wet day touring the New Territories. To go there for that very reason before getting to the Philippines, but Manila was such a shock that we wanted to go somewhere nice and figured that a tourist destination might fit that bill. Random musings from my travelling adventures. Pearl Harbour and Hiroshima. October 12, 2011 by Gillian Klee. I found the museum exhibits the most interesting out of everything – learning about how the Japanese planned and executed the surprise attack on the US naval base was riveting and the aftermath emotive. It was all quite factual and unbiased, just an accurate portrayal of the event which brought the USA into the war, and fuelled my desire to visit Hiroshima a few short weeks later. As at Pearl Harb...

Random musings from my travelling adventures. Laquo; Hong Kong. Chalet Host Training in a Nutshell. November 27, 2011 by Gillian Klee. India has a lot to answer for. As I write this, I’ve been back in the UK for five weeks now and am. Suffering after effects of the dreaded Delhi Belly, despite having since been on a course of antibiotics. And we were only there for six days! But I digress…. We didn’t want to disappoint our guests. 8221; was the reason they gave)! If you’re a foreign-looking woman visitin...

Bolivia – Tupiza and Uyuni – “As Cold as Ice”. Peru – Arequipa – ‘Lets Dance’ →. July 25, 2011 · 4:35 pm. Bolivia – Sucre ‘The city of blinding lights’. This flexibility is not only exciting, but in Bolivia it is a full on necessity! Between unstoppable forces of nature and the even more unstoppable urges of Bolivians to randomly block major highways in protest for something or other (more about that later)… having no plan is the only plan you need! Of course every silver lining has its cloud and what th...

Ed's Travel Blog. Random spoutings from around the world! Chalet Host – The “Training”. When we started planning our year off, we started with a plan to do more snowboarding and worked back from there. The traditional way of spending a season on the slopes has always been Chalet Hosting, and so we applied and were accepted for a job in that role. Now those of you that know me will know that I am not shy of work, so what happened in the last 6 weeks to make us realise that this wasn’t gonna be sustainable?

Ed's Travel Blog. Random spoutings from around the world! Monthly Archives: March 2012. Chalet Host – On the Job. We got to our own chalet on 14th December, with guests arriving 3 days later. We were told in training that we would spend this time getting to know the chalet and setting it up for our idiosyncrasies so that we could hit the ground running when they arrived. India | Ed's Travel Blog
https://edpatmore.wordpress.com/2011/11/11/india
Ed's Travel Blog. Random spoutings from around the world! India lived up to, and in many cases exceeded, my expectations. Unfortunately I’d been expecting dirt, overcrowding, and squalor! One of the guys we’d met earlier in our trip described India as an assault on your senses and he wasn’t kidding! The second thing that I noticed was that everything is derelict. One of our sightseeing days took us to the Red Fort in Delhi -and it was in need of demolition! We had a guide at one point (arranged as part o...

Ed's Travel Blog. Random spoutings from around the world! Chalet Host – The Rest of the Season. In our last week at work, we’d been able to find some temporary accommodation. It was here that we spent our first week of being unemployed trying to catch up on sleep, and rest our weary bodies. We needed to make a new plan pretty sharpish if we were going to stay in the Alps, but we needed some R&R more! It was compact, but did the job. In the remaining 4 days of each week we were free to explore the full be...

Ed's Travel Blog. Random spoutings from around the world! Monthly Archives: October 2011. Getting to the Philippines was, it has to be said, a culture shock! How could 2 countries be more different, Japan and the Philippines, and be connected by such a short flight? For every bit that Japan is clean tidy and organised, Manila is the opposite – we were greeted by a wall of heat, dirt, and poverty, and the first person we interacted with (the taxi driver) fleeced me! Gillian's Adventures | Random musings from my travelling adventures
Random musings from my travelling adventures. March 5, 2012 by Gillian. I am now officially what is referred to as a ski bum. I’m living in the Alps, sans job but with a lift pass until the end of the ski season in April – what could be better? The last oddity is the square pillows on the bed, rather than the rectangular ones I’m used to. They seem to be the standard shape in France, but I’m not sure why – they only serve to force me to sleep further down the bed than I’d like. 8216; on a weekly basis, t...

I am often asked these types of questions. Why do I feel tired, depressed and foggy? Why do I make excuses instead of making the obvious changes that would improve my life? Why are my relationships so hard and why do I attract the same types of people time and time again? Why do I have constant nagging problems in my body, like stiff neck, back ache, IBS, arthritis, eczema? Why do I keep quiet when I actually want to say what's on my mind and then go off and complain? What's my purpose, why am I here?
