Net in Linux: project log. Where to hook onto the tcp stack? I recently discussed with a diagram. I was recommended to look at ksocket. Current issue that needs solving: If I dont have sock- sk element, because I dont use a socket to represent a connection, but use a folder /net/tcp/n , then how to I associate the sk structure with it? Struct file has no sk element like struct socket does…. April 20, 2009. Posted by Rahul Murmuria. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. When UNIX was origin...

Net in Linux: project log. 8220;fsnet create” a good plan? I think I have found my footing. Here is a design diagram. I am considering creating a fsnet which is more or less equivalent to inet – and perhaps even borrows / wraps some code – except that it provides functions to the libfs based netfs implementation program. The inet function in question can be found at net/ipv4/af inet.c. March 25, 2009. Posted by Rahul Murmuria. 1 Comment ». 8230;] to hook onto the tcp stack? April 20, 2009 Reply. To the w...

Net in Linux: project log. DNS: A hard to crack nut! Apparently, Linux kernel does not seem to have a DNS resolver! The fundtion gethostbyname() first checks /etc/hosts and if no entries are found, it makes a direct socket connection with the ip address given in resolv.conf and fetches the DNS resolved ip address! I would do a in-kernel DNS implementation from scratch, but apparently, there are many issues with it. Its not so easy as it originally seemed! March 5, 2009. Posted by Rahul Murmuria. When UNI...

Net in Linux: project log. A test script to fetch over HTTP on command-line. Port to the ctl file, and exit to terminal again for next command, the file and the connection get closed. Here’s the script, that works on Plan 9:. While ( `{cat $netdir/status} Established*) {. Netdir=`{basename -d $clonefile} / `{cat /fd/5}. Port $netdir/ctl exit ‘Cannot Connect’. Echo connected to tcp! Cat $netdir/data tr -d ‘. 8216; showme &. GET / HTTP/1.0. For helping in finishing the above script! April 20, 2009. Next, w...

Net in Linux: project log. Next, what needs to be done is implement the functions of /net/tcp/clone and the /net/tcp/n/ctl files. Doing these will be enough to test out a simple connection from command-line. Predicted forthcoming issue – Plan 9 uses “connect 192.168.1.8! 80” as the command! Is a symbol not allowed in bash. Things I'd like to do someday. Hack the ext4 journal. For simple host status queries. OOP) procfs interface for perl. I currently have no idea how I'd start working on this idea but I've always wanted to make a webcam version of this: example 360 video of Haiti. Play around with Plan 9. Is a free and open source OS developed by Bell Laboratories. Currently have a VM running Plan 9 and I'd like to get around running some sort of web server on it someday : ). Look into the Glendix project.

Maandag 15 december 2008. The exciting future of computers: Linux and beyond. First of all, I just want to make an update: since the OpenSuse. My wifi is finally running flawlessly. Into mainline distributions in a seamless manner. The most popular distributions like Fedora.
