Glimpses of the King: When a Horse Forgets
http://www.glimpsesoftheking.ca/2012/07/when-horse-forgets.html
Glimpses of the King. Finding God in the Business of Living. Wednesday, 4 July 2012. When a Horse Forgets. We don't know much about his history. He was sold at auction on Saturday. By the following Tuesday, he was back at the auction. He was labelled crazy and sold for meat. We brought him home. He is only four years old. When I first saw him, he was bossing all the other horses around. Hooves flew. Teeth bit. Ears were pinned. He wouldn't even let me near the other horses. Singing Lies and Truth. When a...
Glimpses of the King: But If Not
http://www.glimpsesoftheking.ca/2015/11/but-if-not.html
Glimpses of the King. Finding God in the Business of Living. Thursday, 5 November 2015. I have this horse. For years, I have scrimped and scrounged and cut corners in other areas of my life, to pay for him, because I believe that God called me to this ministry. But what if God doesn't? And what if God doesn't supernaturally provide for me so that I can afford the care he needs? The reality is that God might not provide for me. And he might not heal my horse. And He. Is. Still. Good. No Do I like it?
Glimpses of the King: On Beauty
http://www.glimpsesoftheking.ca/2013/04/on-beauty.html
Glimpses of the King. Finding God in the Business of Living. Wednesday, 17 April 2013. It's made me think about the whole concept of beauty, and measuring up to standards. Let me speak out of my own experiences. For years, I struggled with the concept of "beauty". Perhaps I was one of the few women out there who didn't want. For years, I rejected the world's standards of measuring my value by my looks. I wanted to be known for anything but. And here's what I've learned in the struggle. So let's say I can...
Glimpses of the King: None Cuts
http://www.glimpsesoftheking.ca/2016/08/none-cuts.html
Glimpses of the King. Finding God in the Business of Living. Wednesday, 24 August 2016. I was chatting with some kids tonight, and they were swapping special war wound stories. You know, cuts that need stitches, broken bones, skulls split open, that sort of thing. I casually mentioned that I'd never needed stitches or broken a bone, and what followed turned a casual conversation into something I couldn't stop thinking about. It's like you were just born three seconds ago! Isn't that how God sees you?
Glimpses of the King: Hitting Refresh
http://www.glimpsesoftheking.ca/2016/12/hitting-refresh.html
Glimpses of the King. Finding God in the Business of Living. Monday, 26 December 2016. This entry is one just for Special K, who is one of the richest blessings in my life, and whom I adore. She is tall and beautiful and smart and talented, but mostly, I love how she loves Jesus. She is kind and wise and reflects his heart. She came to me yesterday and said, "I love your blog, Aunt Mari.". You love my blog? Yeah, I love your blog.". I said, "I haven't written anything in quite a long time.". And I need t...

Heritage Seminary: The importance of self care
http://heritageseminarycambridge.blogspot.com/2016/11/the-importance-of-self-care.html
Wednesday, 30 November 2016. The importance of self care. By: Nancy Wahl, Professor of Psychology and Counselling. At this time of year at Heritage, my schedule begins to fill up with clients who are tired, stressed, and overwhelmed. More often than not, these individuals are actively serving at school, work, ministry – the list goes on – and they are on the verge of burnout. So what is the solution? Do they need to try harder? No, the answer I always give is quite the opposite - to incorporate. I recomm...

Heritage Seminary: February 2016
http://heritageseminarycambridge.blogspot.com/2016_02_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 24 February 2016. By: Chuck Schoenmaker, Assistant to the College Academic Dean. As my two oldest boys ran out the door on a snowy morning to catch the bus, my wife called out, “You should be wearing boots; what happens if the bus breaks down? Their sly smirk and rolling eyes paralleled my own response as my mother warned with the same statement many years before. It also revealed their unspoken disbelief that it would never happen. Od must look down on us with the same look of bewilderment.

Heritage Seminary: Preparing for Revival
http://heritageseminarycambridge.blogspot.com/2016/12/preparing-for-revival.html
Wednesday, 14 December 2016. By: Dr. Barry Howson, VP of Academics and Student Services, Seminary Dean. In our last blog we asked the question, "Is revival possible in Canada? If we want to see God pour out his Spirit, we must humble ourselves, we must be a people who recognize who we are before our God and Saviour. We need to ask ourselves, am I living dependently on the Lord day by day? Am I daily putting to death my pride and self-sufficiency? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Rick and Linda Reed.

Tuesday, 26 April 2016. By: Dr. Rick Reed, President. At Heritage, I have the privilege of working alongside excellent professors. I regularly hear students tell me how Heritage profs have impacted their lives in deep and significant ways. As I look back over my own educational journey, I realize my life has been shaped by many godly and gifted teachers. Of all the teachers I’ve ever had, I do have a favourite. There is one prof who has impacted me most:. Are you familiar with Dr. Grace? We must never co...

Heritage Seminary: What is Expository Preaching?
http://heritageseminarycambridge.blogspot.com/2016/11/what-is-expository-preaching.html
Monday, 21 November 2016. What is Expository Preaching? By: Dr. Rick Reed, President. One of the distinctives of Heritage seminary is our emphasis on training expository preachers. Admittedly, the word “expository” is used in different ways; so let me clarify how we understand the term. So what exactly do we mean by an expository sermon? Here’s our working definition: An expository sermon communicates the timeless meaning of a passage to encourage a transformative meeting with Christ. Haddon Robinson ask...

Heritage Seminary: October 2015

Tuesday, 27 October 2015. Beyond the Boundaries of God’s Love? By: Dr. Wayne Baxter, Professor of New Testament. One of the things that encourages me in the book of Daniel is the subplot around King Nebuchadnezzar. But not being content with the mediums of dreams or the physical sense of sight, God intensified his pursuit of the king by striking him with a lengthy bout of insanity (Daniel 4). Now why would God do this? Is God simply some power-drunk ogre who enjoys messing with people? If God pursued a r...

Glimpses of the Heart. Glimpse: n. 1. a very brief passing sight or look 2. a momentary view 3. a vague idea; inkling. Monday, January 19, 2015. What is my "Oar"? What is your oar? Glimpses of the King
Glimpses of the King. Finding God in the Business of Living. Saturday, 31 December 2016. Tell Me a Story. For the last seven years, I have driven to the barn pretty much every Saturday morning between 9:00-10:00 in the morning, and for the last seven years, as often as I could, I listened to as much as I could of Stuart McLean's The Vinyl Cafe.
