Architectural Theory

BAC - Distance Masters Program. Tuesday, April 1, 2008. Found this letter on the web, thought you would all enjoy it. Dear Mr. Architect:. Keep in mind that the house I ultimately choose must cost less than the one I am currently living in. Make sure, however, that you correct all the deficiencies that exist in my current house (the floor of my kitchen vibrates when I walk across it, and the walls don't have nearly enough insulation in them). Please don't bother me with small details right now. Your ...

Architectural Theory: Where am I going now?
http://mich-singleton.blogspot.com/2008/01/where-am-i-going-now.html
BAC - Distance Masters Program. Monday, January 21, 2008. Where am I going now? Photo: (from boston.com). Chatham Break - Comparison from July to August 2007 - Erosion after major storm is evident. Photo: (from wickedlocal.com). Houses on the outer beach are in danger of being demolished by the sea. My concern is that houses are being built along the coastline, then years later, fall into the ocean. Is there a way to build a house that can be moved back from the coastline as it erodes away? Nevermind, it...

History & Theory: abstract

Sunday, February 10, 2008. This paper is about the lack of local amenities in Las Vegas, a highly commercialized city. I have been researching what in fact there is to do in Las Vegas, one main focus has been what is there outside of the casinos; strip or otherwise. Books have been far and between for research and the internet has good information. Resources have almost been limited to the internet, local magazines, and local weekly papers. Monday, January 21, 2008. It is definitely good to be home. It was an INCREDIBLE week and I am looking forward to August. Do not get me wrong, I am ecstatic to be home with my wife and my little girl. Like Eric said on one of the replies on Mr. Garvey’s blog: I get to talk to my wife in person and get to hear about my little girls day. Chad R. Kohler. Tuesday, January 8, 2008. My Alpha is Better Than Your Beta. I would definitely like to see more studies similar to what Duncan was expressing. I just ...

Architectural Theory: Maybe Bickford was right!?
http://mich-singleton.blogspot.com/2008/01/i-thought-i-was-going-to-die.html
BAC - Distance Masters Program. Sunday, January 6, 2008. Maybe Bickford was right! If any of you read my last blog, talking about "fear" and practically chastising my neighbor who wouldn't let her kids out to play in our *cough* troubled neighborhood - then you'll get a kick out of this. I woke up, scared out of my mind, my husband beside me "saying what the hell? Over the sounds of (what I thought) bullets hitting our bedroom window. Our three dogs (one of whom can hear a pin drop in China and will ...

The BAC - Winter '08 - History / Theory. Monday, January 21, 2008. Maybe she just wasn't interested in chit-chat. I can understand that - no one wants to find out the hard way that they are sitting next to a salesman on a long plane ride. Maybe she was really, really shy. Maybe she was afraid of me (just kidding! How have we gotten to a point where we live in neighborhoods where no one knows anyone else? Is largely fractured and doesn't seem to believe in America any longer! Does anyone have hot water?
