Grace Farm Studios: Raspberry Torte & Flourless Chocolate Raspberry Cake

http://gracefarmstudios.blogspot.com/2011/08/raspberry-torte-flourless-chocolate.html

Recipes and thoughts from our organic farm in Woodstock, IL:. Sunday, August 7, 2011. Raspberry Torte and Flourless Chocolate Raspberry Cake. A special thanks to my dear friend Kendra for opening up her kitchen for this post. This raspberry torte is not only sugarless, but vegan and raw. A raw vegan dessert? Yes, I know what you're thinking - yuck. But flavor is something this torte does not lack! THE tastiest crust ever! 1 cup raw almonds. 1/4 cup fresh grated shredded coconut. 1/2 cup pitted dates.

Grace Farm Studios: December 2011

http://gracefarmstudios.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html

Recipes and thoughts from our organic farm in Woodstock, IL:. Tuesday, December 13, 2011. The chilly air always beckons me to curl up in a blanket and drink tea - lots of it! A perfect compliment to tea? Here at Grace Farm, Ann has created ways to make use of her raspberry crops during the blustery winter months. The leaves and berries from the raspberry canes can be dried to make loose leaf raspberry tea. And it is delightful! Sunday, December 11, 2011. Unfortunately, asparagus is no longer in season, b...

cooking in the garden unit: Introducing: Big Muddy Urban Farm!

http://cookinginthegardenunit.blogspot.com/2012/01/introducing-big-muddy-urban-farm.html

Tuesday, January 24. Introducing: Big Muddy Urban Farm! It seems I have been a busy bee lately; hardly a moment to sit down. And, what might you ask, is keeping me on my toes these days? Well, I have quite the news! I have been busy working with several of my new and dear friends here in Omaha, to start a CSA (community supported agriculture) called Big Muddy Urban Farm. And others just food lovers. Myself, I have grown only on a very small scale, in my parents' backyard and at the community garden p...

Tuesday, December 6. But first a recap of my fall, in photos:. Much time was spent, with the most beautiful people I know. Cooking with dear friends! And free food, saved from the trash! And now, Omaha. A wonderful place, filled with new wonderful people! And finally, a chance to prepare food for myself again. cooking in the garden unit: October 2011

http://cookinginthegardenunit.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html

Sunday, October 30. Falling in and out of love. My dear friend Alex, a wonderful musician and inspiring individual filled with wanderlust, sang a song once that has been stuck in my head since. It was a cover of the song "Cold and Blind" by Possessed by Paul James (who lately, I am in love with), and he sang it with the equally inspiring Caley Conway. Who has a voice like none other! An old, but favorite image of mine: hello, Fall! Ready to ride, with a windsock made by Vanessa. Let the revamp begin.

Wednesday, September 7. My latest excitement in the food world: kombucha. I have been wanting to try my hand at kombucha for quite some time now, but have either been limited by time or without a mother culture. For those of you unfamiliar with kombucha, let me just say that I think it is quite a treat! Really, like I said before, it is simple. My prior notion that I needed time to make kombucha is practically irrelevant, because it really only takes 10 minutes and a little patience. I have inclu...My cu...

cooking in the garden unit: Secret cafe and a hootenanny!

http://cookinginthegardenunit.blogspot.com/2012/03/secret-cafe-and-hootenanny.html

Tuesday, March 13. Secret cafe and a hootenanny! Things are a brewing here in Omaha! And, Big Muddy Urban Farm endeavors comprise a majority of my daily activities these days. Lately, these endeavors have been filled with fun. A couple weeks ago, we hosted a "secret cafe" as a fundraiser for buying raised beds at one of our growing sites. There were around 50 people who came to enjoy our four-course, sit-down, home-cooked meal! Before the guests arrived. With much food and laughter. 1 onion, chopped.

cooking in the garden unit: Scrub-a-dub-dub

http://cookinginthegardenunit.blogspot.com/2012/03/scrub-dub-dub.html

Friday, March 16. This is a pattern I concocted over the summer time, with inspiration from my friend Annie. It has been a long time coming, but after my dear friend Alicia requested it a couple of days ago, it seemed only appropriate to include it here on the blog! Using repurposed citrus mesh bags (you know, the ones you get onions and citrus in at the grocery store! A win-win-win, if you ask me. The pattern for the scrubbie is super easy:. Dc = single crochet. Slst = slip stitch. Also, use cotton yarn...

cooking in the garden unit: March 2012

http://cookinginthegardenunit.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html

Wednesday, March 21. Though over the years I have grown to really love and appreciate winter for its cold and dark days, there is something that will always be special and joyful about spring. This year it seems to have come a bit early for me in Omaha, but it seems only appropriate to recognize the first day of spring (though it was yesterday). And a spring day it is indeed! Cat mint I foraged from the riverbed of the Platte. A couple of months back, when Christmas had past and everyone else was ready f...

Grace Farrimond | Floral Designer

Monday, 6 June 2011. The perfect bouquet - part 2. My next dress choice is by another designer I came across through the tweets from Miranda Eason while she was attending the white gallery. Now this dress from the Jesus Piero collection couldn't be more different to the last. It is sleek and simple yet beautifully elegant in its design and interestingly the eye is drawn to the detail of the folds at the front. I used a metallic wiring as the basis for this design, creating. And rock my wedding. I always ...
