If you think about it, you can figure out where they go. I picked two grammer rules of hyphens to help learn where to use and put a hyphen. 1 Use a hyphen in the middle of written out compound numbers from twenty-one to ninety-nine. My eighty-one year old hamster ate a pencil. My favorite NASCAR driver's number is ninety-nine.
