Rainbow Falls . Beneath The Highway. Rainbow Falls is such an amazing place. Fountain Creek takes a significant drop of maybe 50 to 60 feet on the west end of Manitou Springs (outside of Manitou's city limit). It can be accessed off of Serpentine Road at the one and only hard switchback. I snapped this photo of Rainbow Falls while hiking to it on a summer day. Steve (June 12, 2006). Miramont Castle

I will likely not do a good job in describing the many highlights of the Miramont Castle in Manitou Springs, but I'll give it a try. On top of being a historic building with a very interesting stories behind the various ways that it functioned in the community, Miramont Castle current acts as a museum that contains much documentation, photos and artifacts of Manitou Springs' history. There is also a really beautiful flower garden. Miramont Castle is located just off of Ruxton Avenue.

The Manitou Incline In Manitou Springs, Colorado (Photo)

While driving westbound on Manitou Avenue I snapped this photo of the Manitou Incline. That long and straight vertical line that goes up the mountain. Formerly used as an incline for tourists to enjoy the views of the mountains and scenery looking out east, the business closed down in the early 1990's and the wooden ties have remained. It has become a fairly popular spot for hikers to enjoy, and with the approximate 20% to 25% grade for 0.9 miles, it is quite a workout! Steve (July 7, 2006).

2002 Winter Olympics Torch In Manitou. In February 2002, the community of Manitou Springs had the honor of having the Olympic Torch come through its town. I distinctly remember it as a fairly cold day, but the town was buzzing with so many people. Photos Of A Stunning Colorado Sunrise - October 27, 2009. October 27, 2009. I walked outside early in the morning and saw those large pink streaks across the sky. I immediately grabbed my camera and had a sense this could be a great Colorado sunrise. About a minute or two later, the sky went ablaze with a variety of pinks, purples and oranges. It was so bright. so majestic. so impressive! Facing more to the south with the Sangre De Cristo Mountain Range. In view in the far distance.
