Here you can see the framing that used to be the wall separating the kitchen from the butler's pantry. Now that it has been opened up I can finally envision how much space we'll have in the new kitchen. SO AWESOME! The new, larger doorway to the dining room will be in the center of this wall. So needless to say the house is a mess. There's stuff ...

Monday, September 8, 2014. Weeks 9 and 10 Kitchen Reno: Fully Functional But Not Fully Finished. We've got counters, working appliances and plumbing. That pretty much gave us the green light to cook our first meal in the new kitchen. A little sawdust never hurt anyone. Extra fiber. Yum. Lately the focus for Chris and I has been on the adjacent dining room. Now that it is SO OPEN TO THE KITCHEN (! Which is just on the other side of the pocket doors). Kitchen Reno: WILL IT EVER END? Monday, February 17, 2014. Sorry to hold out on you for so long, but I've been waiting for something worthwhile to report. Planning a kitchen remodel is a slowwwwwwww process. I brought her photos of our current kitchen. Several inspiration pictures to show her, and a few days later she came out to the house to take measurements. Then she got busy. Some of the obvious changes include a new row of windows above the sink (where a lot of god awful cabinets currently hang) and a sweet new island where I can ...

I've stopped counting which week of the kitchen renovation we're in because it was starting to get depressing. I'm pretty sure the end is near though because our contractor says he's on step 10,457 out of 11,000 steps in his plan. In fact, I'm kind of limited in showing you progress pictures without giving away the whole reveal. Instead we'll just have to get up close and personal. Yup, I'm crazy like that. I used brass hardware. Right now, all ...

Wednesday, April 29, 2015. A couple weeks ago I did a random craigslist search and got lucky! I found the exact range hood. We have planned to use in our kitchen. It's in perfect condition too. New would have cost us a few hundred dollars. Even more exciting then saving some cash? We need to install a back splash first! Cam doesn't want to install the hood and then have to pull it out later to tile so he told me to start shopping! That I can do. A few things I need to keep in mind while shopping:. So I t...

Tuesday, August 24, 2010. Here is the promised step by step for the upholstered chair. I hope it is easy to follow and inspires you to try it. My first piece of advice is to start out with something small. A chair or a bench that is inexpensive and simple would work well for this. Also, visit your library or book store and pick up an upholstery book which will typically cover various styles of furniture and may provide specific help for your project. 1 Take apart upholstery. 2 Remove staples and tacks.

Monday, December 29, 2014. Local Family Room Refresh. I've picked up more local work. Lately which is really exciting. A family that we are friendly with in our neighborhood asked for my assistance with their family room. This family has great style and knows what they like, but just needed an extra set of eyes to guide them in their decision-making. And they are super motivated so there has been a lot of progress in the past few weeks. If you follow me on Instagram. The fireplace is getting a makeover a...

The big pieces are all in and things are really coming together nicely. I had stopped over last weekend to help install some art so I was able to snap a few photos. Here is the plan that they chose:. Here is where we started. And here is a progress photo that I got from my client.how awesome! Here is another photo that I took the other day.
