Hagermans on a MISSION!: Memorial Service for Timmy and Julie Kurrle
http://hagermans.blogspot.com/2012/04/memorial-service-for-timmy-and-julie.html
April 23, 2012. Memorial Service for Timmy and Julie Kurrle. How I got to the memorial service is a story all in itself, but one for another day. I arrived with dear friends. Jamie and Marion Lee, British missionaries. Living in Ciudad del Este. We'd had the benefit of a 3-hour ride to process the horror and shock of this situation, and prepare mentally for trying to encourage Norberto and the community. But when we arrived, we found we were the ones encouraged and blessed. And I'm sure she did.). Julie ...

Hagermans on a MISSION!: Visitors from a Foreign Land
http://hagermans.blogspot.com/2014/10/visitors-from-foreign-land.html
October 25, 2014. Visitors from a Foreign Land. Okay, technically, from here, the United States is. A foreign land. And a few family members from the states visited us for about a week, so we took advantage of that time to show off a bit of the country we've come to love. Unfortunately, our car is STILL. In the shop, so we bused it and walked it and taxied it all over the place. Several church groups have hosted events recently, including a concert for youth to welcome spring and a city-wide rally to pra...
Hagermans on a MISSION!: To Camp or Not to Camp?
http://hagermans.blogspot.com/2015/02/to-camp-or-not-to-camp.html
February 16, 2015. To Camp or Not to Camp? When I first began teaching the 25 students of a special English language/culture program, they told me excitedly that one day we'd go to camp. There were stories of speaking English only for days at a time, and nervous giggles about how they'd ever be able to do that. Fast forward to almost two years later and it's time for that very camp. We loaded up on a bus- all of them plus me, the one "adult" of the crowd- to make a six-hour trip to the rustic campground.
Hagermans on a MISSION!: Yes, We Move About Once a Year...
http://hagermans.blogspot.com/2014/09/yes-we-move-about-once-year.html
September 8, 2014. Yes, We Move About Once a Year. Since we moved to downtown. And might I remind you that the girls are teenagers now. Yep, at 15 and 17, they have their own collections of beauty supplies, favorite clothes, and various souvenirs they've held onto through the moves. Did I mention that they are polar opposites in terms of music taste, organization, and sleep schedules? I'm much more excited about that possibility, knowing we have space for you. September 9, 2014 at 11:23 AM. Yall have wor...

Reflecting on Genesis 15: Obedience and hearing God’s voice | Dana Williams
https://thedanawilliams.wordpress.com/2012/01/17/reflecting-on-genesis-15-obedience-and-hearing-gods-voice
Well, I’m back. January 17, 2012 · 11:22 am. Reflecting on Genesis 15: Obedience and hearing God’s voice. Prepare for what was mostly post-midnight stream-of-consciousness, full of fragments, run-on sentences, and poor punctuation. It’s not coming out the way I felt it originally, but I’m done dwelling on it alone. It’s time to share, even in it’s incomplete form. I was reading in Genesis 15. Am I willing to obey. My mind and heart, say yes. But my often lazy sack of flesh and bones fights. When it’...

Himalayan Happenings: Another Wedding!
http://himalayanhappenings.blogspot.com/2015/03/another-wedding.html
Letters Home from Nepal. Saturday, March 14, 2015. In Nepal, weddings are usually only during certain months and most are arranged by the parents. My previous post was about a Christian wedding I attended that was very similar to Christian weddings anywhere. Now, I'll post about a Hindu wedding l attended. Hindu weddings are not similar to what I'm used to! One thing they all seem to have in common is an outdoor processional and a decorated car! You can hear the processional before you see it! It's very ...

Himalayan Happenings: Ihi and Bahra
http://himalayanhappenings.blogspot.com/2015/04/ihi-and-bahra.html
Letters Home from Nepal. Saturday, April 4, 2015. Do you know what those are? If this is too long, feel free to read it in two parts! Don't worry if you're not from here and you don't know. I didn't know what they were before I moved here. They are types of marriages. Yes! I have never been to an Ihi ceremony, but I have been to (parts of) two Bahra ceremonies. Here's how I learned about the Ihi ceremony. One of my little female students was absent for a few days. When she returned to school,. The first ...

Himalayan Happenings: May 12 Earthquake!
http://himalayanhappenings.blogspot.com/2015/05/may-12-earthquake.html
Letters Home from Nepal. Thursday, May 14, 2015. May 12- another earthquake! My word- it was the very next day after I posted the last post! It was scary, I won't sugarcoat it. We didn't have time to pray! This is why I'm glad we prayed in the morning! I've been working at home, because my new office is on the third floor of the hospital. And I didn't really want to go up there! So, anyway, I was called up there for something. I've been afraid to come up here for longer than a minute! Say it isn't so!

What's happening now, three months on? This Himalayan Times news article explains many things:. Yes, it's still tough. If you've read or heard about it, there were aftershocks at approximately 15-20 minute intervals all day- and all night too. They are actually still continuing!
