Maori of New Zealand. Maori Art - meaning and symbolism. Symbolic Carving on Maori Meeting Houses. The large carved meeting house ( whare runanga). Was usually named after an important ancestor and, in most parts of the country, was a symbol of that ancestor. The front of a carved house has at the apex of the gable a large carved head with no part of the body visible. This head is known as the koruru. In old houses, it is actually carved on the projecting end of the ridgepole ( tahuhu. This explains the ...

Mjoksiglandi: February 2015

There's such a lot of world to see. Sunday, February 8, 2015. He’d probably be embarrassed to know it, but one of my favorite memories of Bra. O is of him dancing at his class’ stu. Not dancing formally with one of the fifth-year girls while parents and coworkers and other students looked on; dancing like he meant it to “1-2-3-4” by Feist, from a CD he’d burned specially for the event. See, during my third year Bra. O somehow got roped into being the class teacher (akin to a homeroom teacher) for 5A.

There's such a lot of world to see. Tuesday, May 12, 2015. An Educational Day in Boston. A few weeks ago was my mom's annual trip. To the East Coast. This year I was able to meet her and her students for a short time- if only their trip hadn't been right before one of my final papers was due, I would have been able to stay with them for another day. As it was, I was happy to see my mum, and I got to see some new and interesting things in Boston. In Salem. The cordial cherry was especially delicious.
