hannah goes to africa

Hannah goes to africa. Thursday, November 24, 2011. What are you thankful for? After writing their thoughts and exchanging papers, I said that each person would stand up and read the two things on their paper. Then I showed that I had a card for each person along with a brand new pencil to write their math exam with. This last statement literally got applause. Applause. For a pencil. It’s the little things. I’m thankful for my feet for bringing me all the way to beautiful Namibia. I am thankful for my dog.

hannah goes to africa: February 2011

http://www.hannahinnamibia.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html

Hannah goes to africa. Saturday, February 26, 2011. This man said “When they came, we had the land and they had the Lord. Now we have the Lord and they have the land.”. We have been having some amazing thunderstorms lately. I really can’t imagine not seeing rain for many months…it is going to be really weird! I have been working on a garden at my house (lettuce, carrots, onions, swiss chard) and have been really thankful for all the rain! We will see how it lasts in the dry season! This whole being sunbu...

Hannah goes to africa. Thursday, October 20, 2011. Hey guys. This post is a little sneak peak at a story I am writing for a website for women travelers called Pink Pangea. I am hoping to write more before I leave. Enjoy! Thursday, October 6, 2011. Dearest Friends, Family, and Followers,. 8221; To my surprise, this smartly dressed woman had a rooster in her handbag. I think I like that better than the stupid little dogs. Today, the wind has been CRAZY! It looks just like you,” so we can move on! I ate the...

http://karenemcgee.blogspot.com/2012/06/chapati.html

Nan Goes From Nam to Nash. Otherwise known as my journey from America to Africa and back again. Wednesday, June 6, 2012. A brief haiku ode to chapati, my one true African love:. Chapati, you thief. You've stolen my heart and soul. Yum, doughy goodness. Fresh off the hot coals. My tummy bulging with joy. Get in my belly. Back home we don't know. Cheap joys of daily fried dough. We should, don't you think? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close" - Jonathan Safran Foer.

Nan Goes From Nam to Nash: March 2012

http://karenemcgee.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html

Nan Goes From Nam to Nash. Otherwise known as my journey from America to Africa and back again. Saturday, March 10, 2012. Darkness is a Harsh Term, Don't You Think? Roll away your stone, I'll roll away mine. Together we can see what we can find. Don't leave me alone at this time. For I'm afraid of what I will discover inside. Cause you told me that I would find a hole. Within the fragile substance of my soul. And I have filled this void with things unreal. And all the while, my character, it steals.

Nan Goes From Nam to Nash. Otherwise known as my journey from America to Africa and back again. Tuesday, June 19, 2012. Ten Rules for Returning from Your Time in Africa. Rule #1: Do not eat three ice cream cones and one deep dish pizza on your first day back in America, no matter how much you profess to adore milk products. You will experience dairy overload and want to die. Rule #2: Do not be a dummy. Do not wash your face with cold water. The hot water is there for a reason. Use it! Can you come to my ...

Nan Goes From Nam to Nash. Otherwise known as my journey from America to Africa and back again. Monday, June 11, 2012. Glenview in a Day. A ten hour layover in Chicago afforded me the opportunity to spend a day in my hometown suburb of Glenview, IL. What does one do when one has to cram all the best things of this town into one day? 1 Have tea time with Nanny and talk about the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. 2 Entice your dogs with some tunes on the keys. 3 Eat a whole bowl of M&M's. 9 Lay on the sandy beach.

Nan Goes From Nam to Nash. Otherwise known as my journey from America to Africa and back again. Sunday, June 10, 2012. I might even grow accustomed to the storm. Of car horns and vendors. Can there be anywhere else in the world that is such an assault on the senses. Those who know the country though just go about their business. But nothing can prepare the uninitiated for this riot. Of noise and color - the heat, the motion, the perpetual teeming crowds. Initially, you're overwhelmed. How Sweet It Is.

Nan Goes From Nam to Nash. Otherwise known as my journey from America to Africa and back again. Sunday, January 9, 2011. New, never before eaten foods: peanut butter, mangoes, cucumbers. Old food reborn as a favorite: sautéed onions on ev.er.y.thing. Housing situation: after accumulating a deep pool of water in our room that resulted in heavy mildew, saturated clothes, and a nearly-collapsed armoire, Amy and I were moved to a new room for the last night. It’s wonderful! The sky. Every sunset makes my...

Hannah's Blog | Just another WordPress.com site

Just another WordPress.com site. Hannah's Missions Trip

Thursday, 11 April 2013. I haven't had internet for the last couple weeks at least. It is the short rainy season in Kenya. There are storms every day and the power is out just as often as it storms. I'm on my way home right now, but I'm really not feeling well, so this probably won't be as well construsted of a post. I said goodbye to the children I taught in Marurui, on Monday. There were many hugs and I am going to miss those kids much more than they realize. I've been pretty sick for the last week, an...

Hannah Jo from Kokomo

Saturday, April 9, 2011. The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble? The one thing I ask of the Lord - the thing I seek most - is to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, delighting in the Lord's perfections and meditating in his Temple. For he will conceal me there when troubles come; he will hide me in his sanctuary. He will place me out of reach on a high rock. Yet I am confident I will see the Lord's goodness while I am here in the land of the living.
