Too Cool For The Stones | Head Stuffing
https://headstuffing.wordpress.com/2012/05/04/too-cool-for-the-stones
Too Cool For The Stones. May 4, 2012. Posted by Fred Brill in Beatles. I had the Rolling Stones playing on the radio this morning in the Jeep. I was driving my two lovely young daughters, ages eleven and nine, to school on my way to work. The song was Honky Tonk Woman, and the school is only two and a half blocks from our house. My two little princesses could easily walk but every morning even beautiful warm spring mornings like this morning I drop them off on my way to work. Don’t you like the Stones?

Our Boys of Summer Play On. October 13, 2012. Posted by Fred Brill in Ashley-Rae. The first half of October is a visual smorgasbord here in southwestern Ontario. The reds, the golds, the browns. The end .,. Still there are remnants of summer past left lying around the ball diamonds still have players practicing, the decks all still have tables with umbrellas unfurled, the sun still feels warm to the skin as it reaches its daily apex. Thank god there’s still ball. But now they wear the same cursive styled...

November 20, 2012. Posted by Fred Brill in 3M. Blue Cross Blue Shield. Remembrance Day has come and gone again. My Dad’s birthday was November 11th or Remembrance Day here in Canada. Everyone here dons a red poppy pinned to their lapel to remember our fallen soldiers. When I was a little boy, I always felt bad for Dad having a birthday on Remembrance Day because everyone would be remembering other people and nobody would remember his birthday. Birthdays are important when you’re a little boy. This year I...

My Turtle Club Gold ‘99s. July 1, 2013. Posted by Fred Brill in Ashley-Rae. It’s July 1. Canada Day to us Canukians. A cool morning with the sun hidden above a thick layer of cloud that is spitting fine droplets of rain as my faithful black lab Suzy and I sit on the back deck this morning. The hot summers of years before do not seem to be the plan so far this year. Instead today it feels more like May. But I was wrong. Dead wrong. The older girls, almost young women about to enter high school either this...

Ringing Out and In. December 31, 2012. Posted by Fred Brill in 2012. Sowing My Father's Garden. Time is running out for the year 2012. The whole world at least the parts that count years the same way we do are prepping for the big celebrations. It’s quite silly that we do make such a big deal about all this New Year stuff. Anything for a party I guess. I’m not against the anything for a party line of thinking, but really, we are simply incrementing the year counter by one. Ya got to love the human race.

Saturday, September 02, 2017. It’s interesting how the generation gap makes itself evident every once in a while. Sometimes it’s even kind of awkward. Such was the case this evening. So I switched the setting of my app to simply play random selections in “shuffle mode”. I’m driving in my car …. I turn on the radio …. I start pulling you closer …. At that point my youngest daughter Ashley-Rae comes out, bored from a summer day with nothing to do, and sits down beside me. I’m driving in my car …. No …...

July 25, 2013. Posted by Fred Brill in 2013. 1 comment so far. Sometimes it’s just inevitable. Sometimes you just can’t win for losing. But, then again, sometimes the line between winning and losing is blurred. Last night, my little Gold ’99 fastpitch team was in the semi-final game to see who would go one to play in the championship game. It was a very close battle. The first out was made at first base, the player picking up a ground ball down first base line and the runner beaten to the bag. 8220;No sh...
