Heartfelt Handworks

Monday, November 19, 2012. A Good Day to Dye. Oh, to be a poor photographer when natural dyes can give such delicate and subtle color! I have spent the past few days felting and today was ready to get into a bit of color! I worked with black walnut, an exhaust mix of madder root and cochineal, and my beloved lichen. This week we said good-bye to our old granny kitty- Belle. Belle adopted us 15 years ago. Our vet suspects she was 18 or 19 years old. She lead a love-filled life and brought grea...Actually,...

Heartfelt Handworks: One More Month!

http://heartfelthandworks.blogspot.com/2012/03/one-more-month.html

Saturday, March 3, 2012. So now is the time that I begin to turn into the anxious sheep "mother" to my pregnant girls. One month ago, Willow's baby bump was just endearing and she was quite comfortable. Gentle Willow with baby bump. For her sake, I hope her lambkins arrive that week so that she doesn't just pop! A very pregnant Willow. RosyPosy will lamb shortly after Willow. Her udders are just starting to bag up and her teats are a little swollen. A very wooly Mary. Lanolin tags around Willow's teat.

Heartfelt Handworks: 2012 Lambkins

http://heartfelthandworks.blogspot.com/2012/07/2012-lambkins_31.html

Tuesday, July 31, 2012. I am sorry, but it seems that as lambkins arrive, my blogging departs. Just when everyone really wants to follow the fun, I am too busy or too tired! So now, as summer begins to wind down, I thought I would share the highlights of the 2012 lambing season. When last I left you, sweet Willow had given birth to triplets:. Two boys and a girl, these three were friendly, curious and quite amusing-much like their mother! Mary was making milk! With one last head-butt, Mary began to lick ...

Heartfelt Handworks: April 2012

http://heartfelthandworks.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html

Wednesday, April 4, 2012. Welcome to the World. And so: On March 30th, sweet Willow finally gave birth to (gulp) TRIPLETS! Two little boys and one girl! Mother and lambs are all doing extremely well. It is amazing to me how quickly they are all up and running- lambs AND Willow! I had some initial concerns with having three lambs and two udders. Sometimes one lamb will continually get shortchanged and may need to be supplemented. But not Willow's babies! Everything is an adventure! If you build it. The th...

Purchased some white Babydoll roving from my Etsy shop, and then spun, dyed, and knit it:. She wrote, I love the Rye socks I knit myself - spongy and comfortable. I also knit a toy bird (Bluebird of Happiness) and a toy bunny (Henry's Bunny) from the leftovers. And oh.that gorgeous color! Don't you just want to squeeze that little bunny?

HeartFelt Happies

Tuesday, June 24, 2014. Past project : finger puppets. A handful of the finger puppets I've made for Evelyn. {05/2014}. Each finger puppet has the same base - just two felt rectangles that are rounded on one side. Then I add details to the front piece for the face/chest and attach any ears or arms as I'm stitching the back and front pieces together. I find that looking at clip art or cartoon images makes it really easy to replicate the look with felt and embroidery. Tuesday, June 17, 2014. I was soon pop...
