Heritage Homemaker: May 2013

http://heritagehomemaker.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html

Make Your Own Incubator. Wednesday, May 29, 2013. For the first time ever in my life, I experienced running from a tornado (rather tornadic weather). The storm sat about an hour and a half away from us for several hours yesterday evening. About 9pm, the "super-cell" began to move eastward/northeastward toward Amarillo. It took me nearly 20 minutes to wake up Felicity and Gregory, pack a quick bag, gather the dogs and get into the truck and head to town. We heard this over the radio as we pulled into the ...

Heritage Homemaker: July 2013

http://heritagehomemaker.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html

Make Your Own Incubator. Friday, July 26, 2013. Today was quite a day here on our little place. Started out with the first real harvest. I have picked a few items here and there over the past several days, but this was the first *haul*. Then upon returning from town, picking up the children, we found that Maybelline has hatched her first baby! Finally, I made the first batch of canned goods of the season this evening. It has been 2 years since I canned anything. Jalapeno jelly! Links to this post. I will...

Heritage Homemaker: A Family Cow

http://heritagehomemaker.blogspot.com/2013/08/a-family-cow.html

Make Your Own Incubator. Sunday, August 4, 2013. I have been thinking, for quite some time, about getting a family cow. I am pretty set on the Jersey breed, mostly due to first and foremost, wanting to have fresh milk. Second, meat. Another reason I would like to have a family cow is to help with the grass/weed control mostly in the corral, but also in some other areas of the place. Here are the books to which I am deciding between which to order:. Has anyone read any of these? Do you have a family cow?

Heritage Homemaker: August 2012

http://heritagehomemaker.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html

Make Your Own Incubator. Thursday, August 23, 2012. With my huge blanket post of the happenings in May, I thought for sure, I was back to blogging on a regular basis. We bought a new house, which was a major nightmare. I broke my finger, had to have surgery on it, it was immobilized for 4 weeks, and is still in a full time splint. We moved into the new house, me with my injured hand. David came home on R&R. So my full time return to blogging didn't happen and summer is nearly gone. David and Amy's Wedding.

Full Bellies, Happy Kids: Baked Ham and Cheese Sliders

http://fullbellies.blogspot.com/2011/11/baked-ham-and-cheese-sliders.html

Friday, November 18, 2011. Baked Ham and Cheese Sliders. I've been making them for such a long time, I don't know why I have never posted the recipe here. Anyway, this was tonight's dinner which is pretty typical for a Friday night, it's either pizza or sandwiches or something easy. These are SO good, I can't even begin to tell you how dangerous they are LOL I have to control myself around them because since they're so small I seem to think that it means I can eat as many as I want. 1 stick of butter.

Full Bellies Make Happy Kids. Squash and Tomato Gratin. Black Bean Soup →. Slow Cooked Sirloin Steak. November 4, 2011. I love this time of year because I usually pull out my slow cooker and it remains on my counter for a very long time. Soups, stews, desserts, drinks, you name it, I make it. This is a really simple recipe but it’s delicious and gives you some really tasty gravy too, good enough to dip some good bread into, or ladle all over mashed potatoes which is what I did. YUM! Homemaking on the Homestead: Canning Chicken Noodle-less Soup

http://homesteadinghomemaker.blogspot.com/2012/04/canning-chicken-noodle-less-soup.html

Canning, Freezing and Preserving. Thursday, April 5, 2012. Canning Chicken Noodle-less Soup. Today was one of those busy days that it seemed I was moving from the time my feet hit the floor until this evening. But, I got so much done and that is a great feeling! I started off with 2 chickens that were a total weight of about 10lbs. I put them in my 14 quart stock pot…. I then added 2 gallons of water. And 3 tablespoons salt. I brought this to a boil and let is simmer all night, a total of about 12 hours.

Alicia's Homemaking: Felt Rose Tutorial {Try New Adventures Thursday!}

http://aliciashomemaking.blogspot.com/2011/11/felt-roses-tutorial-try-new-adventures.html

Thursday, November 17, 2011. Felt Rose Tutorial {Try New Adventures Thursday! I did it. I bought a glue gun. Since Pinterest has opened up a new world of do-it-yourself projects. To me, I have read tutorial after tutorial that sounds easy and doable, until I got to the part that said I needed a glue gun. Sounded like a high tech, expensive tool to me. But I trecked to Michael's, and lo and behold! They cost a mere three dollars. I was pleasantly shocked, and am now the official owner of a glue gun. To st...
