Friday, 26 December 2014. We all took a double zero in Whangarei and set up camp at Rebekah's Nan's place. It was great, made good dinners and breakfasts, watched movies, and had hot showers. Florian was the first to leave, set out in the rain, the rest of us followed the next morning. Hard to see, but a waist deep ford across the river. Thursday, 5 February 2015. Some photos from the past 3 weeks between Hamilton and Whanganui, about 470kms. Rest stop for the hikers on the way out of Hamilton. Tuesday, 5 May 2015. IWeeks 1-3 Post Trail. After the final section through the Longwood forest I ended up at the Globe Hostel in Riverton. Just a small town with a cheap hostel, little grocery store, and a nice library with free wi-fi. A kitchen to make real food! Some grilled and baked veggies and chicken. Leh is the largest city in Ledakh, which is a popular summer destination, but nearly deserted of tourists in the winter. This region is considered a high altitude cold desert with elevations above 3500m, small amounts of precipitation, and temperatures down to -40C. Our path along the river.
