On County Road 3, 6 miles east of Colorado Hwy 133, 40 south of Glenwood Springs, 58 miles southwest of Aspen, CO and 130 miles northwest of Gunnison, CO. 42 miles (Round Trip). This trail, our personal favorite, has waterfalls, wildflowers, a pristine lake and gigantic views of the Lead King Basin and backside of the Maroon Bells. Additionally, you can and should combine this trip with 4WD or ATV circumnavigation of the Lead King Basin road with stops in Crystal City and the Crystal Mill.

Location: 35 miles south of Montrose, 45 miles north of Durango and 70 mile northeast of Cortez, Colorado. 80 - 12.7 miles (Loop). This is my favorite hike in Telluride, crossing a high saddle separating two gorgeous alpine basins. Along the way the trail traverses meadows filled with thigh-high wildflowers and serves up spectacular views of the high peaks surrounding the Telluride valley and the San Miguel Mountains in the Lizard Head Wilderness. 78 - 8.2 miles (Round Trip). 76 - 11.7 miles (Loop).
