One Moment at a Time . . . musings about life, history, faith and art: February 2012

MLIS Thesis: Uncover the Past. Sunday, February 12, 2012. Historical Drama and it's Impact on Perception. Unlike routine bloggers, I unfortunately fall into the tendency of thinking that everything I write must be amazingly well-thought-out and brilliantly impactful. Because of this, I haven’t written in quite some time. I apologize. If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably jumped headlong onto the Downton Abbey. How will it live up to the likes of Sense and Sensibility. Or how about the undertones of...

Life Is Cosmic: May 2013
http://lifeiscosmic.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html
Monday, May 13, 2013. The BabyGirl is a major Daddy's girl. And understandably so, he is a world-class Daddy. I happen to love him quite a bit myself, so I'm not surprised that she thinks he is great too. Sometimes, however, i want to tell her, "Back off; he's mine! I had him first! She seems to think that his sole purpose in life is to spend every waking moment with her. This doesn't always work for him. Or for me. Sometimes there isn't enough of him to go around. To the tune of Frere Jacques). No In th...

Life Is Cosmic: The First Day of the Rest of Your Life

Thursday, August 27, 2015. The First Day of the Rest of Your Life. She had been scared about it for quite some time. She mentioned on several occasions that she didn't want to go; she wanted to learn at home like her friend Addy. She declared immediately, "NO! I'll grab onto you and scream! As the day of reckoning drew painfully close, we focused on how to seek God in the midst of fear. Naturally, the famous Joshua 1:9 was at the forefront:. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. She meekly ...

One Moment at a Time . . . musings about life, history, faith and art: Pain and Grace
http://musingsinthemoments.blogspot.com/2016/10/pain-and-grace.html
MLIS Thesis: Uncover the Past. Wednesday, October 12, 2016. I feel like I am on the cusp of learning something. That this hard thing called life, is one big exercise in teaching me something vital about obedience and faith, love, hope, and peace. What would it look like for me to take steps of faith like that? In what area of my life is God calling me to obedience? Am I living in the freedom of Christ? Resignation for acceptance through a prayer of relinquishment. In her book, Beyond Ourselves. View my c...

Life Is Cosmic: May 2015

Monday, May 18, 2015. Something Went Horribly Wrong. As I mentioned in my last post, we have a new baby around here! New babies are sweet, snuggly, and MASSIVELY TIME CONSUMING. The factory settings for a standard-issue baby take up quite a lot of time, and then when you throw in add-ons like personality, medical issues, sleep regressions, growth spurts, etc, it can really drive up the total pretty fast. We were given the Super Deluxe Primo Edition baby when it comes to how much time her care requires.

Thursday, August 11, 2016. Celebrating a Difficult Kindergarten Year. You may recall that Sunny had a great deal of trepidation on her first day of kindergarten. Thanks to the encouragement and prayers of family members, she bravely went through with it. What we didn't know on that first day was that the same Bible verse of "be strong and courageous" as well as the motivation of "you can do this! Would be required not just on the first day, but throughout the entire year. For a couple of weeks in May/Jun...

Life Is Cosmic: October 2013
http://lifeiscosmic.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html
Wednesday, October 16, 2013. I'm here to tell you that all the rumors about 3-year-olds are true. It's common knowledge these days that "three is the new two," but until you experience it personally, you don't know what you are in for. Three started out with a bang around here. The birthday candles had barely cooled off when night terrors threw our whole household into crisis. From there, it snowballed. Everything inside me withered. Please don't ask me that question right now. I love it all! Our church ...

Life Is Cosmic: September 2013
http://lifeiscosmic.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html
Thursday, September 5, 2013. When Jesus had again crossed over by boat to the other side of the lake,. A large crowd gathered around him while he was by the lake. Then one of the synagogue leaders,. Named Jairus, came, and when he saw Jesus, he fell at his feet. He pleaded earnestly with him, “My little daughter is dying. Please come and put your hands on. Her so that she will be healed and live.”. So Jesus went with him. . . . When they came to the home of the synagogue leader,. But they laughed at him.
