Bangkok – globetrottinggran
https://globetrottinggran.wordpress.com/2016/04/04/bangkok
April 4, 2016. April 4, 2016. A real culture shock! After being in Australia and New Zealand where it is different and there are references to the indigenous people everywhere but it still feels English really, we arrived in Bangkok to be greeted by our guide Tuncha who gave us the traditional “Wai” greeting and a handshake, as well as the trademark Thai smile. She insisted on helping us with one of the suitcases even though it is nearly as big as her. Our wandering led us a little astray and I was glad ...

Kangaroo Island 3. A Koala! Oh, and some more beaches – globetrottinggran

March 14, 2016. March 14, 2016. Kangaroo Island 3. A Koala! Oh, and some more beaches. Margaret spotted this little chap walking along beside the road. We watched as he scampered up a tree and began making a barking type sound. Fascinating. Last morning on the island and Adrian and I got up early to see the beach at first light. We were growing used to seeing groups of kangaroos around the house in the morning but they didn’t look especially pleased to see us. Snellings beach in the early morning light.

The Great Barrier Reef – globetrottinggran
https://globetrottinggran.wordpress.com/2016/03/23/the-great-barrier-reef
March 23, 2016. March 23, 2016. The Great Barrier Reef. Adrian set off for his morning run and quickly came back to tell me that there was a nice sunrise going on. I was up and out before he’d left the building; I love a sunrise. All was quiet and sweetly scented as I walked along the path beside the sea. There were a few runners and walkers but all very peaceful. I walked along to a pier where a number of people were fishing. No one swimming though; this is why. A shark we saw. In an outbuilding there i...

Koh Samet – globetrottinggran
https://globetrottinggran.wordpress.com/2016/04/05/koh-samet/comment-page-1
April 5, 2016. April 5, 2016. The final part of our epic trip is a relaxing week on Koh Samet, an island just 7 kilometres long. We had a 3 hour drive from Bangkok and then a 20 minute speedboat ride to the island. When we arrived the welcome was so warm we thought that we had been mistaken for royalty. The other side of the complex has the villas, pool and restaurant. This is our private terrace. The pool with beach beyond. I have just been traumatised by catching up with the Archers! See you all soon 😎.

March 16, 2016. March 16, 2016. Adelaide to Noosa – from sunshine into rain😒. Our last morning in Adelaide arrived and the bags were all re-packed and loaded into the car. It had been decided that we would squeeze in one more outing before getting to the airport for our flight to Brisbane; a trip to Glenelg, a small coastal town with the palindromic name where the first Adelaide settlers arrived. We set off on the boat with Trevor our driver and guide for the tour. He was born and bred Noosa and has...
