The Reidster: Other blogs
http://hollowellreid.blogspot.com/2007/04/other-blogs.html
This is a blog that I hope will not be filled with sub-par writing and work. Tuesday, April 10, 2007. I'm a gear head, and i realize most of these won't appeal to others. Http:/ www.autoblog.com/. Http:/ www2.blogger.com/post-create.g? It's awesome you kept up with "river". I remember seeing you sit on the couch reading "Baghdad Burning", wondering why the TV wasn't on. Thanks for the blog share tumblebuddy! April 10, 2007 at 10:01 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.
The Reidster: Rough Draft Final
http://hollowellreid.blogspot.com/2007/05/rough-draft-final.html
This is a blog that I hope will not be filled with sub-par writing and work. Wednesday, May 23, 2007. At 829 Davis Street, there aren’t any doors. No windows or walls either. The floor is littered with holes, looking as if they were designed perfectly to swallow a person to the cave-like basement below. A Harvest-Gold refrigerator is the only appliance left in the barren kitchen. Down the road at 613 Davis Street, the lawn extension is littered with ratty furniture and other assorted garbage. In the ...
The Reidster: "Barbeback Mountain"
http://hollowellreid.blogspot.com/2007/05/barbeback-mountain.html
This is a blog that I hope will not be filled with sub-par writing and work. Monday, May 7, 2007. Wow, what a mess. I think the subject matter here is quite intriguing and the writer definately has some talent. The piece had great speed to it, read quickly, and easily kept the reader entertained. May 7, 2007 at 6:43 PM. Just a quick FYI: because of everyone’s comments, I have posted another piece which isn't so messy- if you wouldn’t mind reading that one if you have a chance. Thanks! Lindsey M. Craig.
The Reidster: A response to Boys Who Like Toys
http://hollowellreid.blogspot.com/2007/04/response-to-boys-who-like-toys.html
This is a blog that I hope will not be filled with sub-par writing and work. Tuesday, April 24, 2007. A response to Boys Who Like Toys. I think pieces like this are a lot of fun, similar in certain aspects to the one last week about the new trends in French fast-food. It shows the diversity of the market and what is possible with a little ingenuity and luck, and reminds me of the stories that were everywhere about the creators of YouTube when Google took over. 8220;He is the fanboy, the typically geeky 1...
The Reidster: Marketing, not Music
http://hollowellreid.blogspot.com/2007/05/marketing-not-music.html
This is a blog that I hope will not be filled with sub-par writing and work. Wednesday, May 16, 2007. Marketing, not Music. While the piece about Jonathan Coulton never really comes out and says it, much of what holds my attention as a reader is the constant attention that is given to the common problem with B list artists, regardless of which art form they practice. Zoo Journal: Untitled Final Feature
http://kcarsok.blogspot.com/2007/05/untitled-final-feature.html
Wednesday, May 23, 2007. Endless rows of corn stretch as far as the eye can see out the window of Amtrak’s 351 Pere Marquette train riding from Detroit to Chicago. The bland, dusty yellow nothingness goes on for hundreds of miles, punctuated by signs warning of deadly pesticide applications. Worse yet is the industrialized meat market. Epidemics spread quickly among animals when they are confined to the inhumanely crowded living quarters that are customary to US livestock and poultry production. ...In Ka...
Lauren's Journalism Jottings: April 2007
http://journalistlauren.blogspot.com/2007_04_01_archive.html
A forum for furthering my growth as a journalist. Wednesday, April 25, 2007. This profile hits it. We see a public figure in private- tooling around his home, ferociously reading paperbacks, struggling with his genius. I appreciate the reportage because Gorney clearly spent lots of time with Geisel or at least asked the right questions. I found myself asking 'how did she find that out? And yet also being surprised that I would ask that, because the piece flowed so seamlessly. Thursday, April 19, 2007.
Caitlin's Journalism Blogs: Sorry everyone... can I try again?
http://ziggimawara.blogspot.com/2007/05/sorry-everyone-can-i-try-again.html
Tuesday, May 8, 2007. Sorry everyone. can I try again? So, after reading some comments, I realize I completely missed the ball this the last article- it wasn’t a feature. I was looking for “messy” and just got crap. It was scattered and needed more focus. I apologize to everyone who did read it. I’m posting a new article. I’m sorry to make people read twice. This one isn’t so messy, but is a feature on a new band called Panic! Again, sorry for the last piece! But in case you still want to take a look:.

Zoo Journal: Eating Well and Keeping it Local
http://kcarsok.blogspot.com/2007/05/eating-well-and-keeping-it-local.html
Tuesday, May 1, 2007. Eating Well and Keeping it Local. A colorful sign boasting groceries and fresh produce invites pedestrians of the Kalamazoo Mall inside, where they might find that this is no average grocery store. Petite yellow signs cry out, Local! 8220;I eat nasty food sometimes too,” Finch admits, “but when I’m eating well I feel better.” Does she feel like she is giving up a lot to eat this way? 8220;Yes- the potential for thousands of dollars of medical bills.”. This goes for produce as well&#...
Zoo Journal: Keeping it Local

Charlie's Class Blog: April 2007
http://chmack34.blogspot.com/2007_04_01_archive.html
Thursday, April 26, 2007. The readings on Virginia Tech are pretty scary. It's insane to think that someone could just walk into a classroom and start shooting. This is particularly creepy since an incident of much smaller proportion happened on our campus a few years ago, and on top of it all the guy at KVCC. Really went and stirred things up. The profile on Cho. Is especially haunting because it seems that people did almost everything in their power to prevent this, other than having Cho. Possible....
The Hot Sauce: May 2007
http://sauceishot.blogspot.com/2007_05_01_archive.html
Wednesday, May 30, 2007. I really liked Charlie's pick for this week with the article "Elite Colleges Open New Door to Low-Income Youths" by Sara Rimer in. The New York Times. I think that this piece is a great example of something short, sweet, and interesting. The piece then flashes back quickly, which does a good job of providing personal background information. The flashback is inserted at just the right moment to allow the reader to continue building Jack's character. Wednesday, May 23, 2007. In abo...

a little too intense for blogger: May 2007
http://alittletoointense.blogspot.com/2007_05_01_archive.html
Wednesday, May 23, 2007. Comps Suck, but so does my title. Insert reportage about initial purpose]. One answer to that question exists in the awarding of honors to students for exemplary performance on their comprehensive exam. Doing well on the exam shows a particular student’s aptitude for their field, while giving the school another opportunity to venerate the hard work of an undergraduate. Every day is a new beginning. Treat it that way. Stay away from what might have been, and look at what can be." Marsha Petrie Sue. Sunday, January 10, 2010. We were fortunate enough to be able to stay with my old neighbors, The Fellows. They moved to Arizona and were kind enough to take us in! The kids unwound from the long drive. We spent most our time outside soaking up as much sun as we could! I can't seem to find those pictures so will have to add them later! 74 degrees. Wow it was amazing! They went...
